“The History of Me” Assignment

TASK: Choose one of the following formats (or another one, if approved by the teacher) to express something about your life, your family, or your culture. Historians use artifacts, newspapers, diaries, photographs, maps, and many other resources to do their work. Pretend that historians in the future are trying to learn more about you and your life in 2015. Your work should tell or show us something about your life. This can be done on the provided paper or regular notebook-size paper; it is NOT a big project! *You may type or neatly handwrite work.
FORMAT CHOICES: Pick any 1.
1. Timeline – include at least 5 significant events in your life with a short 2-3 sentence explanation of the event and a picture (hand drawn, magazine, photograph, etc.). Include appx. Date/year. Title of Timeline. Decorate/color timeline.
2. Photograph – with accompanying 5-7 sentence paragraph explaining the event the photo shows and its significance to you. Write in sentences.
3. Colored Map – include at least 3 places labeled and one paragraph (5-7 sentences) explaining their significance to you and/or your family. Color map.
