2 0 1 7 PRESERVATION AWARD NOMINATION

The Trust’s annual meeting and awards banquet is held in November to honor Lancaster’s pre-eminent architect – C. Emlen Urban (1863 – 1939). We encourage you to nominate for an award a project or person that have contributed to the preservation of Lancaster County’s historic architecture and sites. Leadership -- Presented to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated the vision, wisdom and perseverance to incorporate historic preservation in their long-range plans.

Sustainability -- Presented to the owner of any historic structure or site that demonstrates a long-term commitment to conservation and building maintenance best practices to maintain historic significance.

Preservation -- Presented for projects that comply with local, state or national standards for preservation, rehabilitation or restoration of an historic structure or site.

Adaptive Re-use -- Presented for projects that reuse an historic structure, site or portion of a building for purposes other than it was originally built.

Community Revitalization -- Presented for projects that enhance a historic district or community that includes historic buildings and improves the quality of life in the neighborhood.

Master Craftsman -- Presented for meritorious efforts to save a historic structure through master level building skills and knowledge.

Individual Recognitions

Inspiration (lifetime achievement) Award -- Presented to individual(s) who has/have for a long time made a commitment to Lancaster County and historic preservation.

Haubert/Heisey Award -- Presented to individual(s) who has/have supported in an exemplary manner the Historic Preservation Trust. This award is given in honor of long-time office manager Nancy J. Haubert and Elvin N. Heisey (1917-1992) whose dedication set an example for all volunteers.

Smedley Award -- Presented to a journalist or educator who has shown extraordinary support for historic preservation in Lancaster County. This award is presented in honor of former educator and Lancaster Intelligencer- Journal reporter Frederick H. "Chip" Smedley III (1956-2013).
