T HE P R O C E SS

1.An adjudication time slot must be scheduled by January 6, 5:00p.m. No late appointments or walk-ins.

2.You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application and scheduled adjudication time.Adjudication will occur at Columbus Dance Theatre on January 21, 2017beginning at3:00pm.

3.Recipients will be announced by CDT.


E L I G I B I L I T Y

The Columbus Dances Fellowship program provides unrestricted grants to artists of outstanding talent and ability who currently live in the city of Columbus and/or Franklin County, and have done so for at least one (1) year.

Students enrolled in a degree- or certificate-granting program of any kind at the time of application, or during the grant award period, may not apply.

Work submitted must have been created within the last three (3) years. Works dated prior to 2012 will not be accepted.

Past fellowship recipients are ineligible to apply for a period of three (3) years from the date of their award. 2015 award recipients may not apply until 2019.


W O R K

Choreographers are to submit new, original dances 7-15 minutes in length in any style. Solo and group works will be considered. Works shown must not have been previously produced in another venue.

Dances must be shown by the performer(s) who will appear in the final presentation.

An open adjudication will be held on January 21, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Columbus Dance Theatre’s Fisher Theatre.

C O L L A B O R A T I V E A P P L I C A T I O N S

Collaborative works may be submitted. Artists must submit separate application forms and clearlyindicate the name(s) of the collaborative artists. Only one (1) award is possible for collaborative works, which must be shared equally by each artist.


T HEJ U R Y I N G P R O C E S S: R E V I E W C R I T E R I A

Awards will be recommended by a panel of experts in the field. Their decisions will be based solely on the artistic excellence of the work submitted for review. You are therefore encouraged to submit works that clearly convey the techniques and concepts you employ. The primary criterion is quality. Gender, race, age, financial need, education, professional affiliations, previous recognition, and occupation are NOT considerations for funding. The panel will consider:

The relationship of your work to activity in the field on a statewide, regional, and nationalbasis.

Creative and inventive useof the artform.

Innovation in style and/orconcept.

Technicalproficiency.


T H E A W A R D S

Up to five (5) fellowships of $2,000 will be awarded to individuals based on the quality of work. The awards are intended to recognize outstanding local artists. Fellowships are intended to assist artists in anymanner they deem fit to support the creation of new works and/or the advancement of their careers.

Choreographers will be granted rehearsal space at CDT for the 6 week period prior to the presentation of Columbus Dances.

Award recipients should intend to remain in residence for the grant award period.

Fellowship recipients will have their works produced by CDT in its home performance space, The Fisher Theatre on a weekend of open public performances.
