The Great Lakes Region of the Associated Schools of Construction extends this opportunity to assist higher education in the development of our workforce. Through your generous donations and participation, the ASC continues to strive to provide an exceptional experience for the students while enabling the faculty to share pedagogy in a collaborative environment. In advance, I thank you for your consideration.

The following pages contain a registration form, a description of the sponsorship levels, and a tentative agenda for the conference and competition. Please review the levels of sponsorship contained on the following pages. Many sponsors may wish to support the overall activities at the conference. Others may wish to simply participate in the career fair. In the past, this activity has been small. With your help, we may grow this portion of our annual conference into a much larger event, inviting students from across our region to attend. For now, the activity allows industry representatives to meet the students from each school who will be competing in the competition.

In the past, some companies have decided to limit their involvement to providing a specific meal for the students. While the help is definitely welcome, the logistics, timing and contractual obligations with the hotel make this very difficult. Any contribution to the cause will be clearly identified to the students and faculty throughout the event, allowing the organizers and hotel to effectively maintain the event schedules while offsetting the cost of the conference.

Introduction

The Great Lakes Region (also known as Region 3) of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) welcomes industry participation at our Annual Fall Conference and Student Competition.

Each year, usually in October, ASC’s Region 3 holds its primary business meeting and faculty development at a location within our region. Region 3 represents 24 member universities within the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. In conjunction with this meeting, student competitions involving six-member teams from the universities in our region are conducted. These student teams compete in one of three categories of Construction Management competitions, solving a specific problem provided in the area of Commercial Construction, Design-Build, or Heavy-Civil Construction.

A typical meeting includes over 130 students and 25 faculty. The conference and competition is held at the DoubleTree Suites and Conference Center in Downers Grove, Illinois. This year’s event will begin with a Welcome Reception and Mini Career Fair on Wednesday, October 22nd. We will conclude with an Awards Breakfast on Saturday morning, October 25th. Downers Grove is a Chicago suburb about 16 miles SW of O’Hare Airport and 22 miles from downtown Chicago. The DoubleTree is just north of the intersection of the East-West Tollway (I-88) and I-355. For the past several years, the DoubleTree at Downers Grove has served as our venue because of its centrality to the Region schools, good transportation connections and airfares for sponsors, and the quality of the staff and hotel.

Benefits of Sponsorship

This is a prime opportunity to observe and recruit from among the best construction students in the Great Lakes Region. It is an ideal way to get your company name in front of these outstanding competitors. Finally, it is a unique opportunity to network with faculty from the region.

Sponsorship Opportunities

To help offset the costs of such an undertaking and to support students and their faculty in this worthy endeavor, sponsors are encouraged to participate. A Career Fair has been an objective of our region for several years. Our hope is to build participation in this portion of our conference such that it will require more time, space, and become a major feature of our conference— perhaps opening it up to all students within the region.

The following are categories of sponsorship.

Judge Sponsor: (Three available and all are selected at present.)

These sponsors are predetermined and provide the necessary resources to conduct each of the three student competitions conducted in the Great Lakes Region. In return, each Judge Sponsor company receives:

  • All communication related to the specific competition will include indication of such sponsorship.
  • A two-foot by six-foot banner displayed at the category-specific location throughout the conference.
  • Recognition on all category-specific related web pages.
  • Recognition in the Conference Program.
  • A table at the Career Fair.
  • A table for up to eight people at the Saturday morning Awards Breakfast.

Conference Sponsor: $5,000

A Conference Sponsor provides funds necessary to offset much of the activities of the conference and competition. In turn, a Conference Sponsor will receive:

  • All communication related to the conference and competition will include indication of such sponsorship. For example, “ASC Region 3 Fall Conference and Student Competition underwritten by ...”
  • A three-foot by eight-foot banner displayed at all conference-wide activities and outside the main meeting area during separate events.
  • Recognition on all related web pages.
  • Recognition in the Conference Program.
  • A table at the Career Fair.
  • A table for up to eight people at the Saturday morning Awards Breakfast.

Awards Breakfast Sponsor: $2,500

An Awards Breakfast Sponsor provides support for the primary meeting of the entire competition and helps defray costs of the entire conference. In turn, an Awards Breakfast Sponsor will receive:

  • A two-foot by six-foot banner displayed at the Awards Breakfast.
  • A table for up to five people at the Saturday morning Awards Breakfast.
  • Up to 10 minutes of speaker time at the Awards Breakfast before the presentation of awards.

Career Fair Sponsor: $2,500

A Career Fair Sponsor provides support for the growing Career Fair and Welcome Reception and helps defray costs of the entire conference. In turn, a Career Fair Sponsor will receive:

  • A two-foot by six-foot banner displayed at the Career Fair and Welcome Reception.
  • A table at the Career Fair and Welcome Reception.

Activity Participant: $500

An Activity Participant will have access to students in other ways. Their location in the hotel will be identified with a poster-sized sign. Their participation will be noted to all students and faculty on the agenda. Examples of such access are reception rooms, pizza dinners for the student teams, etc. All costs associated with such access are to be borne by the sponsor. Coordination with the Region Director and the hotel is an absolute necessity.

Career Fair Participant: $500

A Career Fair Participant will receive a table at the Career Fair and Welcome Reception.
