Keep this “page” in your BINDER and refer to it from time to time…If you have any questions check with this page or don’t hesitate to ask me. Keep in mind in this class “There are no dumb questions!”
SUPPLIES:
Bring to class every day:
1. Agenda
2. Binder…a folder will not be enough.
3. Fill the binder with college rule paper.
4. Pen or Pencil
Rules and Regulations
1. Enter the room in an adult manner, take your seat. Anyone who is not here when my class begins will be considered late.
2.Food clause take your trash with you…I hate when my class room becomes a dump.
3. Ask permission to leave the classroom…check in with me if you have to leave early.
4. Try to use the lav before and after class.
5. Use appropriate language
6. Do not use my room as a locker, take your stuff with you please.
7. Don’t sleep in here…
8. NO CELL PHONES!!!! TURN IT OFF!!! (if I see you using it or “notice” you using it, I will deduct points off your participation grade.)
9. Ipod/Mp3/?...please turn it off and put it away. (If I see it or hear it I will deduct points off your participation grade.)
ATTENDANCE POLICY
1. Be on time everyday.
2. When absent fill out a work order form, located on the coffee table.
3.DO NOT CUT THIS CLASS!!!… if you do you will be awarded labor camp…you will work for 221 or 222.
GRADES
Your grade will be based upon the following percentages
50% TESTS/ESSAYS/DBQ’s
My tests are designed for your success in June on the NYS Regents. They are challenging, so be ready. IF YOU MISS A TEST YOU MUST MAKE IT UP OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO.
TEST CORRECTION POLICY: If you are unsatisfied with your test grade, I allow for test corrections.
Here is how you do test corrections: on a separate piece of paper write out the question and correct answer once. You will receive a ¼ point on your test grade for each one.
30% Quizzes and Homework.
You will have a quiz every “last day of the week”. They are designed for me to see if you are indeed “keeping up with the story”. The quizzes will consist of a ten questions dealing with all the material that we have covered. There will be two “bonus” questions, if you get them right you will receive “extra credit” toward your quiz average. But be aware, that you can only receive a 100% quiz average. IF YOU MISS A QUIZZ YOU MUST MAKE IT UP OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO.
20% Participation and Conduct
You will receive 100 points at the start of each quarter. If you are guilty of any of the following offenses, I will deduct 5 points from that total.
1. Conduct unbecoming.
2. Cell phone or Ipod use.
3. Not doing class-work assignments or not doing “required” assignments.
4. Not complying with any of Mr. Lyons “policies” on page one
Grades are updated constantly, so check the portal, here is no reason for you “not” to know how you are doing.
