Third sector leaders and colleagues from private and public sectors will be meeting at Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford Campus on Friday 31st March from 10 am, to hear (and question) a panel of speakers, and to hold a wider discussion on the topic:

‘The Future for Essex: its people, its communities, and those working to make things better’

Speakers include Charlie Leadbeater, the internationally renowned author and expert on innovation, social entrepreneurship and the new economy, and Dan Corry from New Philanthropy Capital, which aims to provide the new thinking and new ideas the sector needs to become more successful.

National Lottery Awards 2017

The National Lottery Awards are the annual search to find the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects. Lottery players raise £30 million each week for projects across the UK and the Awards are a great way of celebrating the unsung heroes improving lives with National Lottery funding.

Now in their 14th year, the Awards recognise the incredible difference that Lottery-funded projects have made to people, places and communities all across the UK through the 500,000 grants awarded since 1994.

There are seven categories, reflecting the different types of projects to benefit from National Lottery funding:

  • Art
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Heritage
  • Sport
  • Charity/Voluntary

You can nominate your favourite project or put your own forward. All entries must have received National Lottery funding at any time since the Lottery started in 1994.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 7th April. Winners will receive £3,000 for their project and will star in a BBC One television show.

Epilepsy Action

Managing Your Epilepsy Event

Epilepsy Action is holding a ‘Managing your Epilepsy’ event at the County Hotel, Rainsford Road, ChelmsfordCM1 2PZ on Saturday 18th March from 10 am to 4 pm with a light lunch provided.

The aims of the session are:

  1. To provide an opportunity for anyone with epilepsy, their carers and families to learn about managing epilepsy
  1. Hear about:
  • Recent advances in treatment and options
  • Promoting independence in children and young adults by managing epilepsy
  • Managing epilepsy medication, triggers and risks
  • Caring for children with epilepsy (optional afternoon workshop)
  • An introduction to mindfulness to help alleviate stress

The cost is £6 delegate, £4 for members or concessions.

Hearing Help Essex

Hearing Help Essex is looking to appoint a new manager.

Applicants must have proven managerial experience and that of working in a team. Exceptional organisational and time management skills will be required and you need to be able to remain calm, with empathy and compassion even in difficult situations. Excellent verbal communication is essential and the role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Full training and support will be given.

Voluntary Sector Training

Voluntary Sector Training (VST) is looking to appoint a new Chief Executive.

VST is a well-established charity whose prime focus is to make training and development available to the voluntary and community sector at the best prices, locations and quality.

The new CEO will continue the process of turn-around to put the organisation on a firmer commercial and financial footing in the face of diminishing financial support, ensure the proper and effective management of the company’s resources and provide the necessary accountability for their use.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is midnight on Wednesday8th March with interviews to be held on Tuesday 21st March.

Office Space Needed

Hearing Help Essex is looking for office space to sub let in the Maldon area. The office would need to be available from end of June 2017 at the latest.

The requirement is for 300 sq. ft and the space must be DDA compliant.

International Women’s Day 2017

Wednesday 8th March

International Women's Day (IWD) on 8th March is an important opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity – the World Economic Forum predicts that the gender gap will not close entirely until 2186.
