The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation Launches Books That Cook:

Laura Meyn & Meatless in Cowtown

The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation is proud to announce Laura Meyn & Meatless in Cowtown on January 12, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library. Laura Meyn coauthored her vegetarian cookbook, Meatless in Cowtown, with wine and spirits expert Anthony Head; it’s filled with vegetarian recipes with a Texas twist — and wine, beer and cocktail pairings, too. Meyn’s background includes working with high-profile personalities on their cookbooks and contributing to several editorial projects atBon Appétitmagazine. As a graduate of Indiana University who started her career in Los Angeles, Meyn has experienced many different settings across the United States in her vegetarian journey. A Fort Worth resident since 2007, she is dedicated to boosting the voice of vegetarians in the DFW area.

Join us for a discussion between Laura Meyn and colleague June Naylor on Thursday, January 12th, at 6 p.m. in the Tandy Lecture Hall at the Fort Worth Central Library. Naylor, also a cookbook author, will dive into Meyn’s experience as a vegetarian in Fort Worth and how she hasembraced local ingredients and techniques since moving to Texas. Naylorand Meynwill discussMeatless in Cowtown, and their shared experience in putting cookbookstogether. Meyn is currently contributing editor for 360 West Magazine in Fort Worth; her work has also appeared inTexas Highways magazine.

More About Books That Cook
Books That Cook is anew series of free public lectures starting in January 2017 featuring local cookbook authors and their journeys to publishing. Each will give tips for testing recipes and tell stories about how they developed their own recipes or tweaked family instructions. The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation promotes awareness of the Fort Worth Library’s many resources, including more than 3,600 cookbooks in the collection available for borrowing.

The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation’s mission is to benefit both the Fort Worth Library and the Fort Worth community by providing resources that support educational programming, buildings and infrastructure improvements.
