The following represents brief/broad position descriptions. It is not intended, nor should it be construed, to represent a comprehensive and/or exhaustive description of all duties/responsibilities and requisite skills for each position.

News

REPORTER [2 Positions]: Regular Full-Time:This Journalist will research thoroughly, write clearly in broadcast style, edit video and present finished stories in a professional and engaging manner, for on-air or web broadcast. The Reporter is responsible for gathering news materials, interviewing persons both on and off camera; preparing and presenting packages/reports either live or on tape. Other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism preferred. Working knowledge of non-linear editing equipment such as AVID is a requirement, as well as knowledge of broadcast cameras. Must have extensive experience in broadcast reporting. A minimum of five (5) years in broadcast journalism and three (3) to five (5) years experience editing is required. Meet aggressive deadlines while still completing high quality stories. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

MANAGING EDITOR, Local News Service [LNS]: Regular Full-Time: The Managing Editor will oversee the day-to-day process of gathering News in the field for the Local News Service. Work with News Managers to implement vision for the partner Stations. Work with the partner stations to determine story selection and long range story planning. Assist in the planning of Special Events, particularly Logistics. Manage LNS Assignment Editors and LNS Photographers. Assist in the coverage of breaking news. Manage and oversee shared news helicopter program.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications. Supervisory and Management skills required. Must have exceptional editorial judgment and the ability to deliver compelling live television. The candidate will possess strong writing and story telling skills and a thorough understanding of Market/News dynamics; copy edit and conceptualize stories. Read and interpret ratings and research data. Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Must have five (5) progressive news experience working in a mid to major market.

WRITER/WEEKEND PRODUCER: Regular Full-Time:Writes for assigned newscasts. Collects information, reviews videos and then assembles content for newscast. Additionally will work as a fill-in producer. Selects stories, assembles them in a line-up, orders and reviews graphics, writes and copy-edits the stories and coordinates reporter presentation. Responsible for taking the show into the control room and timing it so that it includes commercial breaks. Must participate in the editorial process that leads to story assignments. May occasionally produce either content in the field and/or long form stories for air.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications. Must have exceptional news judgment, strong writing and copy-editing abilities, strong communication skills, ability to develop and assemble content in an understandable fashion, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Exceptionally creative. Able to think outside of the box and find new ways to present information. Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Good and quick decision maker. Able to supervise the work of others. At least three (3) years of newsroom experience, preferably as a line producer.

PRODUCER, 10PM: Regular Full-Time: Produces the FOX5 award winning 10PM newscast. Selects stories, assembles them in a rundown, creates graphics, writes and copy edits the stories and coordinates Reporter presentation. Responsible for taking the show into the control room and timing it to include commercial breaks. Must participate in the editorial process that leads to story assignments. Occasionally, produces content in the field and long form stories. Also manages website content. Other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned.

WRITER: Regular Full-Time: Writer will gather information, review video, assemble content, select and assemble stories, order and review graphics, write and copy-edit stories and coordinate reporter presentations. This position will also work as a fill in producer.

SPORTS ANCHOR: Regular Full-Time: The News Department has an immediate opening for a Sports Anchor who will anchor the Sports segments of our newscasts. Cover sports, sports-lifestyle and recreational oriented stories and events. Develop/produce sports packages. Write and produce sports component of newscasts and do live shots from the field. Travel with various sports teams as assigned. Need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a positive attitude, leadership skills and good news judgment.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communication. Must be an excellent communicator who takes a creative approach to story telling effectively from the field or on set. Must be able to gather information by phone and in the field; write exceptional news copy and develop story ideas. Must be able to meet deadlines, work under extreme pressure and multi task assignments. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Five (5) years experience as a Sports Reporter or Anchor in a Mid to Major Market.

Sales Department

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE: Regular Full-Time:We are seeking an experienced Account Executive who will be responsible for all aspects of accounts, including Web, generating new business, and the creation and sale of unique promotional sponsorships.Candidate must be able to present and negotiate all aspects of the Station and website. Must be able to develop strong client and agency relationships. Must be very strong attransactional business. Maintain timely paperwork and reports relating to sales activities. Excellent and detailed service on all accounts is expected and required.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in Sales. TV Sales preferred. Candidate must have excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills. Industry knowledge and the ability to work in a team environment.

SALES COORDINATOR [SALES]: Regular Full-Time:Provides a high volume of administrative support to the VP/General Sales Manager, Sales Managers and Account Executives. Also maintains account files, processes orders, revisions and cancellations. Also responsible for researching and resolving discrepancies; competitive checks and handling credit issues for accounts.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree required. Excellent communication, organization, multi-tasking skills and ability to work well under pressure are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with programming; rates and demographics a plus. Two (2) - three (3) years Broadcast experience and knowledge of Software including Wide Orbit preferred.
