POWER SURGE

And that is exactly what we need, a

POWER SURGE.

Some churches have Prayer Circles, some have Prayer Warriors, but we feel that we need to work as a TEAM to be more successful. So we have formed a PRAYER TEAM.

Name:ACTS (This will be our road map)

Owner:God the Father Almighty – our creator

Manager:Jesus Christ – His only son, our Lord and Savior

Coach:The Holy Spirit – our comforter

No limit to the # of disciples – everyone can join our team – young, old, in between

Games:365 games a year – every single day – 15 minutes

Uniform:The Cross of Christ – which you already have

Cheerleaders: Sunday School teachers – for encouragement

Rule/Play Book: The Bible – the Word of God

Road Map for our prayers:

Adoration – for the one to whom we are praying – our Heavenly Father

Confession – not so much confessing our sins, but confessing what we believe. Example: The Apostles Creed

Thanksgiving – acknowledge that the Lord is good! He made us and we are His

Supplication – humbly asking for something

Concession Stand: Already open the first Sunday of each Month and each Wednesday morning and evening when we have Bible Study – serving bread and wine, the body and blood of Christ – otherwise known as Communion

We hope everyone will join our prayer team and pray with us for at least 15 minutes each day of the year – 365 times – once for each time the Bible tells us DON'T BE AFRAID.

We all know our owner, manager and coach. We all have our uniforms, our Rule/Play Book. So we should all be ready to participate.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Martin Luther wrote two short prayers for individuals and families to use in the morning after waking and in the evening before going to sleep. These lovely prayers, taken from Dr. Luther's Small Catechism, can help you begin and end each day with the Lord.

LUTHER'S MORNING PRAYER

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

LUTHER'S EVENING PRAYER

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ. Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day: and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Remember The Great Commission: Matthew: 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Since February, Hollie Harrison has been planning a mission trip to Guatemala July 15th – 22nd with Gold Hill Wesleyan Church. (This is being coordinated by Philip Martin, Youth Pastor.) During her week, she is going to be doing crafts and bible stories with senior citizens and children. (I think about 400 in total for the week.) Their group will also do construction work in the village.

One of the items she is collecting is hard candy for the children (individually wrapped). Candy donations can be placed in the box in the narthex.
