Classification:Part-Time; 21 hrs/wkReports To:Director of Guest Services

Friday 2:00pm-7:00pm Status:Non-Exempt

Saturday & Sunday; 10:00am-7:00pmSalary/Grade:$9.00 per hour

Job Focus:

Maintain the cleanliness of the Kitchen and Dining Room Area. Assist staff and volunteers with cleaning and stocking duties. Make purchase orders as directed and maintain inventory. Ensure breakfast, lunch and snacks meet Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines

Essential Functions:

1.Menu preparation for kitchen. (Please note: at times menu requisitions are prepared by staff)

2.Inventory control of purchased and donated foods in kitchen

3.Report supply needs to Director of Guest Services for ordering. Prepare and place orders as instructed by the Director of Guest Services. (Please note: All orders must be reviewed and approved by the Director of Guest Services)

4.Plan and supervise the food preparation for weekday breakfast, lunch and snacks for guest and special events

5.Monitor use of donated foods for maximum benefits

6.Assign tasks to volunteers and lodge residents. Report any conduct or performance concerns to the Director of Guest Services

7.Assist with and supervise daily cleaning of kitchen area, walk-in freezers and equipment. Complete cleaning inspections sheet daily. Report any employee conduct or performance concerns immediately to the Director of Guest Services

8.Perform duties of other cooks as needed (during illness, vacations, or emergencies)

9.Perform all duties in a manner that reflects the core value of The Salvation Army in treating all people with dignity and respect

10.Provide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

1.High School Diploma or GED equivalent

2.Food Service Manager Certificate (must maintain)

3.TB Skin Test

4.Valid Driver’s License; able to drive 12-passenger van or cargo van

5.Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time

6.Able to work in a fast paced environment

7.Must be able to lift heavy food supplies and equipment

8.Sterling interpersonal skills; applies tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external constituents

9.Flexibility & Strong Work Ethic

10.A positive, contagious ‘can-do’ attitude

11.Creative, enthusiastic, highly organized and able to meet deadlines in a timely manner

12.Must possess a thorough understanding and appreciation for The Salvation Army’s mission and work

13.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

14.Must be sensitive to the issues of families, children, cultural diversity, and homelessness – must be able to assist people and provide assistance in a calm, courteous and polite manner
