Dear Fire Chief:
The State of Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control and the Connecticut Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America are teaming up to give boys, young men and women an opportunity to join Scouting.
On Saturday, April 30, 2005 we are asking for your support in conjunction with your local Cub Scout Pack to hold an open house at your firehouse from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Boy’s in areas where an agreed upon open house will be held will receive flyers through their local schools announcing the program.
The following are some of the benefits of the “Fire Up For Scouting” program:
Firehouses
· Opportunity to run Fire Safety programs.
· Expose to parents and potential volunteers of boy’s
· Opportunity to expand your Exploring program*
· Additional positive exposure within the community
Boy Scouts of America
· Opportunity for new boy’s to join
· Possible program for advancement (see attached)
· Exposure to new families regarding the value of Scouting
We sincerely hope that you will endorse and support this terrific initiative in your station. We are asking your local Scout leader to contact you to arrange the details. Thank you in advance for your involvement with “Fire Up For Scouting”.
If you have any questions or would like to get information on the Scouting program closest to your station, please contact Kathy Farnsworth at 289-6669 x232 or
Sincerely,
