Principal’s Message

The first month of school is an incredibly busy time. I’d like to fill you in on the work teachers have been doing “behind the scenes.” We have completed our fall benchmarking in reading and math. This information is used to determine the needs of students and to plan appropriate instruction for all learners. Teachers also use this data to measure student growth. They look forward to sharing your student's academic progress during conferences, which are coming up in the second week of November.

In our implementation of PBIS, we have explicitly taught the behavior expectations for the classrooms and our common areas. Our overarching expectations are Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind. I encourage you to refer to these expectations as you review your student’s day. As part of our incentive program, we held our our first “Golden Awards Assembly” last Wednesday.

As the weather turns, I would like to remind you that we try to go outside as much as possible. Fresh air and exercise is good for all kids. So, if it’s raining, we may still go outside. Please send your student to school with a raincoat, and warm gear.

We are beginning our Book Harvest. If you have gently used books, please drop them into the box located outside the office.
