Our Logo
The Family Program logo is symbolic of the richness not only of our Catholic faith, but also of the core values and key elements around which the program was designed.
At the top center is the familiar Christogram which is based on the Latin version of the first three letters of Jesus' name in Greek. Its place of prominence signifies the source and summit of our faith and our program. Its crimson color embodies the character of king and martyr, and at its lowest point a drop of crimson overlaps the vine below signifying the life-giving nature our Savior's Precious Blood.
Below, and laid over a book representing Holy Scripture, is a grape vine reminding us of John 15:5 - "I am the vine, and you are the branches..." It symbolizes our complete dependence on Our Lord and the assurance that only in Him will we bear much fruit. The abundant grapes signify that the fruitfulness of Family Program derives from its faithfulness to the teaching of Jesus Christ, the Eternal Word, and they remind parents and participants that their labor will bear bountiful fruit in due season.
On the left-side of the book are two citations. The first is Proverbs 22:6 - "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.” The second is from John Paul II’s Apostolic ExhortationCatechesi Tradendae (Catechesis In Our Time), paragraph 68. This same citation is found in the Family Program Vision Statement, and speaks of the parents’ role as primary catechists of their children. Taken together, these two citations both exhort and encourage parents in their active participation in the Family Program.
On the right-side of the book are three interlinking capital "C"s –also in crimson. They signify the Catechism of the Catholic Church born from the Blood of Christ, and which serves as the principle teaching document for the program. In each corner of this page is a crimson flag representing the four parts of the Catechism as well as the four-year cycle for the Family Program.
The elements of the logo are contained within a gold ring signifying both the unity of all it contains as well as the incorruptible nature of Truth. The elements within embody Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church -- the inseparable components which define our Catholic faith.
Finally, the name "Family Program" and its inaugural year “A.D. 1994” are placed upon the gold ring. The letters are laid on top of the ring, and not contained by the ring. This is significant, in that it highlights the nature of the ring itself which is mentioned above. It is not there as a place-holder for the program's name, but to represent that Truth serves as its underpinning.
