Entries can be collected after the prize giving is finished

Please note there will be no prize money, only certificates.

Junior section winners will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze medals and a certificate.

If you could like to volunteer to help in the horticultural tent in 2018, please leave your details - email address/phone number with the person who is seated at the doorway of the tent and we will contact you in due course.

How to Enter

Pre-Register your entry to allow us to plan the layout of the tent.

To be an official entry of the Horticultural Show, please complete both pages of the entry form (pages 9 and 10) and send it to the address below, before the deadline.

Setting up of Entries.

Pre-booked entries onlyare accepted on site on Friday,22nd September 2017 between4 – 6 p.m. or Saturday,23rdSeptember from 7.30am to 9am, whereupon there will bea £5 returnable entry fee per person payable at the gate to the Park to Classic Festivals. This is returned by Classic Festivals if you have left the showground by 9.30am.

Vehicles are allowed on-site at these times.

We will be continuing to use a one-way system for vehicle movement on site. Please enter through Essex Road Gate, and leave via Cecil Road Gate (next to the Rose Garden).

There is no vehicle movement allowed on-site after 9:30am, so your vehicle must be off-site by then. You will be allowed vehicle access on-site after the event (approximately 6:30pm).

Whilst driving on-site a 5 mile per hour limit is in place and we request you put your hazard lights on.

There is no parking available on-site for exhibitors over the weekend. If you require parking for any reason, please put your request in writing for consideration to the Enfield Town Show Horticultural Tent address.

Judging

Judging will take place on Saturday,23rd September 2017,10.00am to 1.30pm. (approx. timings). The horticultural tent will be closed to the public and exhibitors until the judging is finished. Afterthe judging, the tent will be open to the public for the rest of the weekend.

Removal of Exhibits

All exhibits must be removed from the tent between 5.00pm and 6.00pm onSunday,24thSeptember 2017.

Any exhibits not claimed by 6.30pm will bedisposed of at the discretion of the Tent Organisers.

Rules for Exhibitors

1. Exhibits: All exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor, except where otherwise stated in the Schedules.

2.Entry Forms: Exhibitors are requested to complete all sections of the entry forms.

3.Eligibility: The show is open to all except where otherwise stated in the Schedule.

  1. Entry – to exhibit in the Show you must pre-registerby completing and returning an entry form to the relevant address. You will not be charged for exhibiting.

5.Number of Entries in a Class. An exhibitor may enter two entries, except where otherwise stated.

6.Acceptance of Entries: The Tent Organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry, and, in the event of such refusal, is not required to give any reason or explanation.

7.Times for Staging: Exhibits must be staged between the time stated in the Schedules.

8.Exhibit Cards: Every exhibit must bear a class card which will be obtainable from the Tent Organisers during the hours of staging and be placed face down with the exhibit. All cards must be in position by end of staging and exhibitors will be responsible for checking the details of same.

9.ALL EXHIBITS SHOULD BE NAMED and cards for this purpose can be obtained from the Tent Organisers. If variety is not known, it should be marked "Not Known".

10.The Meaning of Kinds and Varieties: In these Schedules the words "kinds" and "varieties" are used in the following sense. Potatoes and Carrots are "kinds" of vegetables, "Majestic" and "King Edwards" are "varieties" of potatoes. Roses and Dahlias are "kinds" of flowers, "Peace" and "Super Star" are "varieties" of roses.

11.Vegetables and Fruit, must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least two months prior to the show.

12.Rules for Judging. The Shows will be judged where applicable by RHS Horticultural Show Handbook 2016 NCS, RNRS, NDS and BFS Rules. Floral Art in accordance with NAFAS Competitions Manual Third edition 2015. The Judges will use cards supplied by the Tent Organisers.

13.Decisions. The decisions of the Judges shall be final as to the relative merits of the exhibits, and the decision of the Tent Organiser shall be final on all other matters connected with the Show.

14.Protests. Any protest must be delivered in writing to the Tent Organisers by 4pm on the day of judging.

15.Alteration of Exhibits: Between the time fixed for the completion of staging and the closing time of the Show, no exhibit may be altered or removed, except by permission of the Tent Organisers.

16.Liability for Loss: Careful arrangements will be made for the safety of all exhibits but all exhibits, personal property, etc., will be at the risk of the exhibitor and the Tent Organisers will not be liable for loss or damage due to any cause whatsoever.

17. Junior Section: Must be own unaided work of the competitor.

SECTION A – VEGETABLES

All vegetables to be displayed on environmentally friendly packaging

A1 POTATOES: Four, white or coloured

A2 BEETROOT: Three, approximately 3" (7.5 cm) foliage, one variety

A3 CARROTS: Three long or pointed, approximately 3" (7.5 cm) foliage, any variety

A4 CABBAGE:Two green, round or pointed with approximately 3" (7.5 cm) stalk, one variety

A5 ONIONS: Large, three, one variety, "dressed"

A6 CHILLI: In 6 inch plant plot

A7 MARROWS: Pair for the table, one variety

A8 TOMATOES: Six of one variety

A9 RUNNERBEANS: Six pods, one variety

A10 HEAVIEST PUMPKIN

A11WONKYVEGETABLES: Collection of four wonky vegetables (any).

A12VEGETABLES:

Collection of five kinds of vegetables. One of each kind.

A13MIXED SALAD PLATTER – any six of the following - Celery; Bunch chives; Bunch cress; Cucumbers; Endive; Lettuce; Mustard;Bunch onions; Green salad; Radishes; Tomatoes; Beetroot

SECTION B – ADULT BAKING

B1 Jam – any fruit – 450grams (1 pound)

B2 Victoria sponge – 8 inches diameter – filled with any jam – clingfilmed, on paper plate

B3 6 decorated cup cakes – displayed in a cardboard cake container – any theme

B4 Any fruit crumble – no bigger than 8 inch diameter container – to be at least two inches deep.

SECTION C - FRUIT

C1 APPLES: One dish, three desserts, one variety.

C2 APPLES: One dish, three cooking, one variety.

C3 PEARS: One dish, three, desserts or cooking, any variety.

C4 BLACKBERRIES: One dish, with stalk attached {approx. ½lb (225g)}, one variety.

C5 FRUIT: Dish of any kind of fruit not previously covered by this Schedule, one variety.

C6 FRUIT: Collection of four different kinds of fruit, numbers as in single classes or in list at end of schedule, section C. Space allowed 2’ x 2’ (61cm x 61cm).
