JOB TITLE: / Facilities Support Worker
REPORTS TO: / Facilities Supervisor
ACCOUNTABLE TO: / Head of Support Services
PAY BAND: / SP 1
HOURS: / 18hrs per week
08:30 – 14:30 Tues-Thurs
BASE: / ellenor, Gravesend, however travel to other sites is essential.
JOB SUMMARY: /

To assist the Facilities Supervisor to ensure the fabric of the Organisations sites provide a safe environmentfor patients, public, staff,volunteers and external contractors.

To undertake work as required to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment for the Organisations sites.

Key Functions & Duties

Maintenance:

  • Carry out tests and visual inspections of the Organisations equipment within the agreed timeframes and complete all corresponding documentation;
  • Undertake regular monitoring of systems for example central heating and domestic hot water and ensure records are maintained in line with agreed practise;
  • Carry out appropriate repairs as per the maintenance jobs list, ensuring that tasks are completed within the agreed timeframes;
  • Redecorate the buildings in accordance with a planned redecoration programme;
  • Monitor fire fighting equipment; carrying out fire tests and record these as per the agreed programme;
  • Undertake onsite maintenance of portable oxygen facility, ensuring constant supply and change of cylinders in line with safe systems of work displayed.

Health & Safety:

  • Assist with routine fire training of new staff;
  • Act on issues raised pertaining to H&S matters and report any health & safety hazards or potential hazards to the H&S Officer;
  • Participate in risk assessments e.g. health & safety, fire safety and manual handling;
  • Assist with annual servicing on manual wheelchairs and other patient aids and complete corresponding documentation;
  • Carry out portable appliance testing, following training as required on all portable electrical equipment across the hospice sites and the retail outlets.

Projects

  • Participate in relevant projects as requested by the Facilities Supervisor
  • Assist in the completion of office moves as requested by Facilities Supervisor

General

  • To be aware of the philosophy of ellenor and to behave as a fit representative
  • To abide by the Organisations general confidentiality policy
  • To be aware of guidelines stated in staff handbook and all relevant policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings pertinent to the role and at the request of the Facilities Supervisor;
  • To attend statutory and specialised training when required
  • Keep up-to-date with current legislation, as appropriate, e.g. Pat testing and COSHH
  • Drive company vehicle as necessary

REVIEW AND APPRAISAL

An annual performance appraisal will be undertaken by the Facilities Supervisor however, there will be regular ongoing reviews and the post holder may request an informal appraisal and/or review at any time.

This job description will be amended and developed in the light of experience and will be the focus for objective setting in the annual appraisal.
