TheseShows are Equine Canada Sanctioned Bronze Shows.

All Equine Canada / Dressage Canada Rules and Regulations will apply to these shows.

THE EAADA APEX AWARD

The EAADA is introducing a mini-series of 3 bronze shows for 2011. The first 2 shows are 1-day shows:

  • June 4 at Whitemud Equine Centre
  • July 23 at the Beaumont Agricultural Society Fairgrounds
  • August 13/14 at Amberlea Meadows (2-day show)

The EAADA will award all entry fees and stabling to the rider/horse combination with the highest aggregate score from 2 of the 3 shows. Freestyles and Equitation scores will not be included.

Para-equestrian riders are welcome. Please bring your card.

Rules and General Information:

The Pyramid Seriesis sanctioned as a

Bronze competition member of Equine Canada, 2685 Queensview Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B 8K2 and is governed by the rules of EC.

Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged accordance with the EC Rule Book.

An Equine Canada Bronze (or higher) Membership is required for participation in these shows. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Fees should be paid to Equine Canada – at least one month for processing)

Sport License fees are as follows: Bronze $45; Silver $85; Gold $125 and Platinum $175.

Statement of Principle

EC, the National Equestrian Federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all competitions under its jurisdiction.

EC is committed to:

  • Upholding the welfare of horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities;
  • Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect, and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment;
  • Ensuring that owners, trainers, exhibitors and their agents use responsible care in the handling,treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose;
  • Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards ofnutrition, health, comfort, sanitation and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure;
  • Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare;
  • Increasing education in training and horsemanship practices;
  • Requiring owners, trainers, and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competitions;
  • Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare ofhorses.

The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a reasonable person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be cruel, abusive or inhumane.

Attention All Dressage Riders
A rule change from Dressage Canada
As of May 1st, 2011, the following rule regarding safety headgear will be adopted by Dressage Canada:
E4.0 Safety Headgear
1. ASTM/SEI or BSI approved headgear must be worn by all riders showing Fourth Level and below, regardless of age, when mounted on the showgrounds at EC Bronze, Silver and Gold competitions.
2. ASTM/SEI or BSI approved headgear must be worn by all non-competing riders mounted on horses entered in classes at Fourth Level or below in EC Bronze, Silver and Gold competitions.
3. All riders of any age while on non-competing horses must wear protective headgear at all times while mounted on the competition grounds.
4. The penalty for contravening 4.0.1 is elimination.
5. Non-competing riders who contravene 4.0.2 and/or 4.0.3 will be instructed to dismount until wearing an ASTM/SEI or BSI approved helmet.
Note: At the tack check which follows the test, the steward may ask the rider to dismount so that the helmet may be inspected for the ASTM/SEI or BSI label.

General Rules For Shows 1 & 2

An entry is not considered valid until it has been paid in full. Late entries – those entries made before the show starts but after the entries close – may be accepted with the approval of the Show Secretary.

Ride Times - No scheduled ride times for shows 1 and 2. The Order of Gowill be consecutive and be will be posted online at call Helen (780) 475-5538. The show will start atapproximately 7:30 and end no later than 5:00, with a lunch break. Also, the number of entries will be limited due to the show being a 1- day dressage show.

Stabling – All horses can be tied to trailers,but if a stall is necessary a deposit of $75 is required. You mustbring your own bedding. The deposit will be given back once the stall is cleaned out and approved by a member of the show committee.

Ribbons – As we have approached the age of recycling the EAADA has decided once again to offer our old vintage ribbons from past shows. Ribbons may not have the correct colour /placing /years but we will do our best to make it fun.

All dogs must be on a leash..

There will be no concession.Bring your own lunch and snacks..

Readers will not be provided.

General Rules for Show 3

Only one horse per entry form. The entry form may be photocopied.

Ride Times – Will be scheduled and posted on-line at – Is mandatory at Amberlea Meadows for all competitors at a rate of $85 for the weekend. Tack stalls are available. Horses may begin arriving at noon on Friday, August 12th. Anyone wishing to remain overnight on Sunday should arrange with Amberlea Meadows directly. Feed and bedding is available for sale from the show office.

No horse will be placed in an unassigned stall without approval from management at the discretion of the Show Manager. Special requests should be noted on the entry form and the show management will accommodate them whenever possible.

Readers – Will not be provided

Colin Crone Award – Will be awarded for the highest technical score of Show #3 held at Amberlea Meadows.

RELEASE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM

EVERY PARTICIPANT IN THE EAADA PYRAMID SERIES DRESSAGE SHOWS SHALL CAREFULLY READ THIS NOTICE BEFORE SIGNING. NO PARTICIPANT WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE WITHOUT SIGNING THIS FORM AS REQUIRED.

Inherent risks of equine activities shall mean those dangers or conditions which are an integral part of equine activities, including, but not limited to:

  1. the propensity of any equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm or death to persons on or around them and/or damage to property in their vicinity;
  2. the unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar objects, persons or other animals;
  3. the equine’s response to certain hazards such as surface and subsurface objects;
  4. collisions with other equines, animals, people and objects;
  5. the potential of a participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the equine or to act within his or her ability.

It is hereby recognized and acknowledged that all equestrian sports involve inherent risks and that no helmet or protective equipment can protect against all foreseeable injury. I hereby accept this risk. I am participating at my own risk and in full knowledge of the hazards and potential hazards, which are inherent in this sport.

In consideration of being allowed to participate in this event, I hereby assume all risk and inherent risks and I hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Alberta Dressage Association, the Edmonton Area Alberta Dressage Association, the Alberta Equestrian Federation, Equine Canada, Whitemud Equine Centre, the Beaumont Agricultural Society, Amberlea Stables Inc., and their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives and their personal representatives, from all responsibility, liability or claims of any nature and kind which I may have arising from my participation in this activity, including but not limited to bodily injury or death to myself or my horse(s) and damage to property arising from any cause whatsoever, including the negligence of one or more individuals and organizations referred to herein.

This release and acknowledgment shall remain in effect for the duration of the 2011 EAADA PYRAMID SERIES DRESSAGE SHOW in which the above named signee participates and until all horses and property of the signee have been removed from the grounds.

*Person Responsible*: (as defined by Equine Canada) “The person responsible for a horse is an adult who has, or shares, responsibility for the care, training, custody, and performance of the horse and who has official responsibility for that horse under EC Rules and is liable under the penalty provisions of the Rules for any violation of the EC Rules. The Person Responsible must hold an EC licence (see A203.5). For the purpose of these Rules, the Person Responsible is normally the trainer, owner or the competitor who rides or drives the horse during an even, or a parent or legal guardian in the case of junior competitors. The Person Responsible is ultimately responsible for the condition, fitness and management of the horse and is alone responsible for any act performed in the stables by himself or herself or by another person with authorized access to the horse, or while the horse is being ridden, driven or exercised.” See article A1011 for further information. Parents and Guardians (A214.2): Parents and Guardians are entitled to sign their children’s entry forms without being EC members or holder of a Sport License, provided they agree to abide by the rules and penalties contained in the Rule Book. However, the owner of the horse must hold a valid EC Sport License and the owner’s EC Sport License number must be included on all entry forms.
