The Director of Developmentis a member of the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge(FODR) organizational leadership team andis responsible for the overall development, implementation, and coordination of the organization’s development programs. This strategic position participates, leads, and develops an internal team to support development and development planning efforts.

This position will be a 30 hours per week position, and will start in approximately mid-May.

Essential Job Functions including but not limited to:

  • Oversee a comprehensive development strategy for the organization
  • Manage an organization-wide fundraising calendar with deadlines for proposals, reports, activities, and events
  • Identify prospects and cultivate relationships to strengthen and maximize giving in support of FODR’s mission and strategic objectives
  • Prepare and meet annual goals, strategic initiatives, and budgeting targets
  • Research and assess foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities and prepare grant and sponsorship proposals
  • Ensure grant terms are met with compliance, records are maintained, and that funders are acknowledged in a timely fashion
  • Lead major gift and endowment activities
  • Lead individual giving activities and fundraising campaigns (capital, project specific, Colorado Gives Day)
  • Oversee Membership and Events Coordinator and ensure success of 3-5 fundraising events/year as well as membership campaigns and member relations
  • Maintain FODRs donor database and update with all pertinent information
  • Utilize volunteers in fundraising activities
  • Provide staff support to the Board of Directors and Executive Director
  • Coordinate efforts with Marketing staff as appropriate

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in non-profit-related development
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Proven track record and enthusiasm for fundraising, grant writing, event planning, program management, collaborating, team-building and community
  • Excellent computer skills, including direct experience working with content management systems. Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of donor database software (Neon CRM)
