The Development Office

The Development Office is a dynamic, innovative and friendly team, responsible for the University’s corporate fundraising campaigns, alumni engagement, managing alumni and fundraising data and delivering corporate events, including the degree ceremonies; in addition the teams liaise with academic departments to support decentralised activities in this area.

The Role

  • The postholder will:
  • Write for copy forDevelopment Officewebsites and publications
  • Prepare content for, and contribute to day-to-day social media activity
  • Review best-practiceinitiatives undertaken by other UK Universities to inform our communications activity
  • Support the promotion and marketing of Corporate Events
  • Support the activity of the Communications Hub during congregations

Key Accountabilities / Primary Responsibilities

  • Undertaking social media activity across Development Office communications channels
  • Writing copy for the web and printed publications
  • Attending meetings and taking accurate minutes
  • Undertaking desk-based research
  • Distribute marketing materials across University locations
  • Liaising with University staff, students, and external stakeholders
  • Such other duties, commensurate with the grading of the post, which may be assigned by the Directorate Manager or their nominee.
  • Organise filming and photography activity and manage the image library.

  • Regular use of Screen Display Equipment
  • Carrying promotional materials to locations around the Canterbury and Medway campuses and local area.
