The definitive event forinformation security professionals

15 – 19 May 2017| VODACOM WORLD, MIDRAND

Dear [Name]

I would like to attend the ITWeb 12th Annual Security Summit 16 & 17 May 2017.

The return on the investment will be a major benefit for our organisation, because the event aligns directly to our priorities and overall objectives, specifically [insert your priorities and objectives here].

The theme of this event is: “protect critical infrastructure against cyber threats”.

Protecting our infrastructure and network from an imminent cyber attack is an everyday challenge for us. Not only are outsiders preparing a ransomware attack but people inside our organisation knowingly or not also hamper our ongoing efforts.

By attending this event we can bypass some of these potential risks because of the insight both theoretical and practical that we will gain from attending.

There are over 60 presentations including international insight, corporate South Africa case studies, local thought leadership as well as feedback from the Hawks and DFIRLABS. I can choose from three tracks each day and even move across the tracks to ensure I take away the most benefit for our organisation.

I will gain valuable insight into the following and many more topics of relevance as we all as being afforded the opportunity to discuss and debate the subjects with the speakers (local and international) throughout the proceedings:

-threat intelligence

-how to achieve a good baseline of information security

-user behaviour

- find out why you need not fear the 0-day

-first-hand account from the front lines on fighting cybercrime in South Africa

-how secure is the blockchain technology and could it support IT security?

-digital security for managing risk and cyber threats

-capability and capacity building for infosec in Africa

-privacy and identity theft

-incident management and incident response

- is South Africa prepared for the new cyber security challenges?

-governance, risk and compliance

-digital forensics

-cyber insurance and cyber liability

The summit will give me opportunities to exchange ideas and share information, and it will allow me to explore new ways of managing the security aspect of our critical infrastructure and protecting it from an attack or threat thereof.

Senior decision-makers, thought leaders, gurus and security experts from across industry will be at the event, speaking and having roundtable discussions about hot issues relevant to our organisation – this is a massive networking opportunity and it will give me a chance to connect with influential people that I can learn from.

I’ll make sure the rest of the team benefits as well. After attending the event, I will meet with them and share my recommendations, lessons learned as well as action items, and circulate a detailed post-summit report. During these meetings, I will be also able to show the team downloadable presentations, PDFs and audio recordings of the sessions I attended.

I am seeking approval for the registration fee and if applicable travel expenditures.

The fees listed below exclude VAT / Early-bird rate 26 February CUT OFF
Conference only 16 & 17 May / R6460.00
2 Half Day Workshops 15 May / R2847.00 (for the day)
Conference + 2 half day workshops 15 – 17 May / R7446.00

There are also special discounts available for groups and I think it would be beneficial for the organisation to have more than just one employee attending. If a bigger group attends, we will be able to strategise and embed security as a culture more successfully.

I look forward to having a fruitful discussion with you about this exciting event!

Thank you for your consideration.
