BOWLS NEWS

London was a cold place and full of grey. Low grey clouds, grey streets, black leafless trees. But underneath these trees are little budding daffodils and snow drops and on each bare branch is the promise of green about to burst forth. I think I left grey old London just before the onslaught of spring; and I left people there hungry for it after a particularly cold winter.

The Day the English Came

I was not in the country, but am told that the Brit bowls morning earlier this month was a success. They simply loved our surroundings, our very good greens, the impala, a wedding in which lovely ladies paraded in all the splendid colors of rainbow saris; and I guess the bowls was ok too.

Our newly opened A green is playing well and will be even better after a few weeks. We can rightly be proud of our greens

Backing theMixed Fours

Enforce, who have kindly supported our events for months on end, are pulling out of their sponsorship of the monthly Mixed Fours Sunday afternoon game - but the sponsorship is being replaced to the tune of R1500 by Greg Baverstock; his company - Screen Fast. We appreciate this generosity - thank you, Greg and Laura. March will be Enforce’s last deal and we owe them many thanks.

Put on Your Reading Glasses

Alistair is producing a comprehensive sheet of events for the month, which will be on the board as well as in your email. Please read the board - among the inevitable clutter are things which apply to you … such as upcoming Port Natal games, closing dates, club competitions waiting for your name and relevant dates. Things which make our club tick.

A Word in Your Ear

Small but important facts: new membership cards have arrived and are in the drawer in the tabs office waiting to be claimed. These should be carried in your wallet and produced before Port Natal games, as you know. There are jacks missing from the tabs room - if you have inadvertently put one belonging to the club into your bag please return it (no one need ever know)!

We are getting club competitions under way. The Ladies and Mens Drawn Trips are the first of general membership games - always something to be looked forward to.
