We are a nurturing and open church to all who enter into our Sanctuary. We base our ministry on the Word of God and a caring spirit. Jesus invites us to share our ministry to all that come into our church.
“To make Disciples
of Jesus Christ for theTransformation of theWorld” / From the Pastor’s Desk
Beloved In Christ,
As we move into the season of Lent and Resurrection Living, we have ample opportunities to be aware of God’s Presence, right here with us. One of the ways we try to do that at Trinity is by being a community where all are welcomed.Westminster Presbyterian Church in Charleston SC, has a laminated card in the pews that reminds us to welcome families with children, even if the children get antsy in
worship. Here’s what it says:
“TO THE PARENTS OF OUR YOUNG CHILDREN, MAY WE SUGGEST…
Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are welcome!Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what’s going on. They are tired of seeing the backs of others’ heads.Quietly explain the parts of the Service and actions of the pastor, ushers, choir, etc.Sing the hymns, pray, and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you.
If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me.’
Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in their house of worship.
TO THE MEMBERS OF OUR CHURCH…
The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they are a reminder that our congregation is growing. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragementto their parents.”
I especially like the reminder to “give a smile of encouragement to their parents.” We can do this, as we seek to be a place where all are welcomed. After church a few Sundays ago, an occasional visitor made a point of finding me and saying how welcomed he felt each time he came to worship. It meant a great dealto him.Thank you,Trinity, for being a place where all are welcome!
Blessings,
Pastor Ken

UMW Mission Project for Trinity
The United Methodist Women are sponsoring an ongoing mission project for our church. We saw this being done at another church and thought it was a great idea. Beginning in February, we will collect items for the Operation Christmas Child Samaritan Purse Shoeboxes. There will be a container in the hallwayoutside of the nursery where you can put your items. We will be collecting different items throughout the year. Our first s will be personal care items. We will collect them in February and March. Items needed include the following:
- Combs
- Hairbrushes
- Toothbrushes
- Washcloths
- Stick deodorant
- Bar soap (packaged and/or in a container)
- Adhesive bandages including colorful ones for children
- Reusable plastic containers: cup, water bottle, plate, bowl, blunt-edged utensils (these can be used by them for not only eating but other purposes such as digging, etc.
- Non-liquid lip balm
- Flashlights (solar-powered or hand-crank, if battery operated, be sure to include extra batteries of the type needed
- Nail clippers and files
Remember, we will be filling boxes for both male and female children, ages 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14.
We will collect other items in the coming months. In November, we will have a packing party in the Fellowship Hall which will include adults and children. We will enjoy lunch together. We will then gather all the items which have been collected and begin filling the shoeboxes. By doing it this way, we will be able to provide more children with shoeboxes and it will be easier to collect the items throughout the year.

SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER – Feb, 28
The Men’s Club is sponsoring a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 28. This will be a drop-in from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. and will be donations only. Pancakes are particularly associated with ‘Pancake Day’ or ‘Shrove Tuesday’; the day before the start of Lent in the Christian calendar. Originally, pancakes were eaten to use up milk and eggs, which were NOT eaten during the period of Lent.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!!!!!
Trinity is celebrating American Heart Month and
Wear Red Sunday on Feb.19 to bring awareness to
heart disease, especially among women. Heart
disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women, yet it's 80%
preventable by education and lifestyle change.
We will be providing materials that Sunday to help
everyone learn how to help prevent heart disease.
Please wear RED to church on Feb. 19th in support
of this cause.
The UMW will have a hearty soup luncheon in the
Fellowship Hall after the worship service on Feb. 19.
The meal will include a variety of soups, cornbread,
a sandwich, tea and a slice of pound cake. We invite
everyone to join us after church for food and fellowship.

PLEASE NOTE:
- The Sunshine Visitation Committee will meet for a few minutes immediately after the church service on February 26. If you can’t attend this meeting, please contact Foster Senn, Chairman.
- The Adult Sunday School class led by Sharon Baughman which meets downstairs will be starting a new discussion based on R. T. Kendall’s book, Total Forgiveness. The book states that “When everything in you wants to hold a grudge, point a finger, and remember the pain - God wants you to lay it all aside”. One of the core messages in the gospel is that of total forgiveness. Jesus forgives totally, and He expects no less from us. Make the choice today and step into a new dimension of freedom and inner peace. We would love to have you join us this any Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Sharon Baughman, Grady Senn, Harriet Stevenson, and Gary Holmes are members of this class.
