Location: Newmarket, Ontario

Full-Time, Salary $79,567 - $90,161annually

Reporting to the Supervisor, Occupational Health, is responsible for providing proactive disability and rehabilitation management services to employees with short term, or long term disabilities, and workplace injuries, including facilitating employee re-integration to the workplace through planning, implementation and co-ordinating timely modified work programs; liasing with other health care professionals, disability insurance carriers and the WSIB; and co-ordinating employee health surveillance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Certification of Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing and has Canadian Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing - COHN(C). A candidate who is working towards certification may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in rehabilitation or case management, including implementing and monitoring modified work programs.
  • Experience in providing health surveillance programs such as pre-placement assessments.
  • Experience in interpreting medical functional information and with the ability to communicate this information, within policy/legal bounds, in order that appropriate administrative decisions can be reached.
  • Proven knowledge of disability management, theory and practice.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of pertinent legislation (e.g., OH&S, Human Rights, WSI Act and Health Disciplines Act) with the ability to communicate its significance and relevancy to each situation.
  • Knowledge of WSIB policies and processes.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications.
  • Familiarity with an HRIS system.
  • Judgement in the application of nursing and social principles.
  • Demonstrated sound decision making skills to resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in handling situations of a complex and sensitive nature with tact and discernment while protecting confidentiality of medical information.
  • Ability to take direction from policies, functional precedents, company procedures, legislation and professional disciplines pertaining to occupational health and disability management.
  • Ability to work independently, with individuals, with groups and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability in presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret statistical data and recommend procedures to formalize a course of action.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
