Carolyn Bernitt - Branch Manager, Vice President of Rhinebeck Bank

Rhinebeck, NY – July29, 2015 – The Brookmeade Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Bernitt as President of its Board of Directors. Mrs. Bernitt has been a strong and steadfast supporter as Treasurer for the Foundation’s Board and in her concurrent role as a member of The Baptist Home’s Board.Mrs. Bernitt replaces the exiting long term President Rev. Jane Lang. After many years of dedicated service to The Baptist Home, Rev. Lang relinquishes her position to relocate to South Carolina. Mrs. Bernitt is the Branch Manager, Vice President of Rhinebeck Bank in the Village of Rhinebeck and was unanimously selected to assume the role of President. She has strong ties to the greater community. Carolyn is an active member of the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce and is also a member of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club. She has served as a member and Club Secretary for The Rotary Club of Red Hook andwas named a Paul Harris Fellow in 2011. Mrs. Bernitt served as an Ambassador for Ulster County’s Chamber of Commerce during 2011 and 2012. Carolyn was also one of the founders of “On Your Toes of Rhinebeck” which was created to organize and manage fundraising events for children in need.

The background and experience of the Foundation’s new Board President uniquely qualify Mrs. Bernitt to assist in moving the Brookmeade Community forward toward its goal of creating an Adult Day Services Center. This center will be built on the Brookmeade campus and will serve the many people living with Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia, and chronic illnesses that are choosing to remain at home while being cared for by family and friends. As New York State’s leading Long Term Care Facility, The Baptist Home feels a strong responsibility to offer their award winning and life changing programs and services to the greater community by providing therapeutic care for the ill and much needed respite for their caregivers.

Residents and staff of Brookmeade (The Baptist Home, The Terraces and Arbor Ridge; entities of this Senior Living Community) are excited to congratulate and embrace Carolyn Bernitt in her new role and are confident that the Foundation will meet its goals under her strong leadership.
