Hamlet Therapy Assignment #1
Act I Scene 2
Your Job: You will take on the role of Hamlet’s psychoanalyst (his shrink). As Hamlet faces the death of his father, King Hamlet, his true feelings appear in bits and pieces. You will need to decipher between what is honest and what is embellished as well as decide what is significant to his mental well being. You must approach Hamlet as a patient of yours and think of him analytically.
Group Assignment: For each chapter chunk your group will choose at least 5 CDs (concrete details) that give insight to Hamlet as a character. You will want to get the CDs from a variety of scenes, not just a single scene. You must correctly quote and cite the page in MLA format: (Act.Scene.Lines). After each CD you must write 3-4 CM sentences that discuss what this CD tells you about Hamlet. What have you learned? What quality does this reveal? How does Hamlet react to it? What is Hamlet’s tone toward the subject? Is he apathetic or oversensitive?
Group Jobs: You must choose a group role; you will be responsible for your section and you will be graded based on your section.
