A. Aim

The Case Study Collaboratorprogramme aims to enhance applied learning within Singapore’s non-profit sector[1]through the development of local case studies.

This collaborative effort seeks to support the adoption of best-practices and new insights/learningwithinthe non-profit sector. Lessons learnt from the case studies will support the non-profit leaders and practitioners develop and deliver more effective programmes to better serve their beneficiaries.

C. Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How much is Tote Board setting aside for this effort?

Tote Board has set asideup to$750,000 over 3 years (FY16-FY18) for organisations to develop around 20 case studies for the non-profit sector in Singapore.

  1. Can the cases be on international examples but benefit Singapore?

We are considering case studies on non-profitsin Singapore in the following 6 sectors - arts, community development, health, social services, sports, education; as well as social enterprises.Hence, no international cases are not eligible, unless used for comparative purposes.

  1. Are there particular themes Tote Board is interested in?

The themes for case studies can vary and it would be up to the applicant to propose relevant themes. The applicant should also suggest relevant case study examples, for example,for example, if it is focused on an organisation/s, specific programme, network, issue of interest as part of their suggested theme.

  1. Can we have a partnershipas part of our proposal submission?

Yes. We would encourage partnerships where possiblebetween different organisations.

  1. How many case studies can we produce?

Typically, each selected organisation can develop 1- 3 case studies.

  1. Is there anapplication template?

Yes. You can refer to the Tote Board Website for details. You can add other relevant points to the application, in addition to the points mentioned within the template if necessary. As a general rule of thumb, submissions can range between 5-8 pages in PDF format. Please keep your submissions succinct and relevant.

  1. Is there anevaluationcriteria for applicants?

The evaluation criteria will include:

a)Desired outcomes it will achieve;

b)Ability to deliver project within the agreed timeframe;

c)Unique value proposition including quality of project team and track record;

d)Experience within non-profit sector will be an advantage.

  1. What is the selection process?

We will shortlist applicants, who may be invited to present to the Selection Committee in May 2018. Applicants will be informed about the outcome by June 2018.

  1. How would the funds be disbursed?

Tote Board would be disbursing40% of the approved fundingto the organisation at the start. 60% of the remaining funding will be disbursed upon completion of the project and submission of necessary documents.

  1. Would the board be funding fully or co-funding the cases developed?

We can consider co-funding or fully funding depending upon the merits of the proposal.

  1. When is the next window for applications?

There will be one morecall for proposal in FY18.

  1. Are there any intellectual property rights for these cases?

Intellectual Property rights reside in Tote Board. However, Tote Board shall grant our partners a perpetual license to publish the case studies in digital or physical formats in the following aspects:

  • Teaching content for academic and learning purposes;
  • Hosting case studies on partner organisation and its affiliates’ websites;
  • Publishing in scientific and peer journals and/or news publications;
  • Sharing at conferences and symposiums (locally and overseas);
  • Dissemination for learning and course teaching for not-for-profit purposes;
  • Hosting on digital platforms and repositories, such as case study portalsand knowledge portals
  1. When is the application deadline?

The deadline for the FY2018 call for proposals is25 April 2018 (Wednesday), 12noon.Please email your finalised proposal to Oliver Loke .

[1] The non-profit sector (including social enterprises) for the development of case studies covers the 6 sectors that Tote Board currently supports- social service, education, health, arts, sports and community development.
