OUR FIRST LEGACY : RECOVERY...

'THE BIG BOOK UNPLUGGED"

1/27/18 (Save The Date)

*Sponsored by Suffolk County General Service Assembly of Alcoholics Anonymous

it was our late co-founder Bill W. who first pointed out that the Twelve Steps 'suggested as a program of recovery are a gift passed on to us by the original members who recorded their experience for the book Alcoholics Anonymous.' They agreed upon the Steps after a long discussion, and the baseline of the triangle stands for that First Legacy, Recovery, on which all the rest of AA is founded." ( From, Box 459, Volume 24, Number 2,April-May 1979.)

At AAs 20th anniversary in St Louis, 1955, Bill W. rolled out our Three Legacies to the attendees at that celebration. Bill told the story of the people and the streams of influence that made AA recovery possible. (I will talk about the other two Legacies, Unity and Service at a later date. )

"The Big Book Unplugged" is a PowerPoint presentation created and narrated by Richard H. of the No Frills Group in Bellmore, New York. Getting to know Richard in the recent past has convinced me of his knowledge about the history of Alcoholics Anonymous. The "icing on the cake" I have come to also realize is his witty delivery along with his great sense of humor which is not too common in the fellowship. I have come to also realize and respect Richard's steadfast dedication to working and living all three sides of "the triangle" and giving back freely what was given to him!

Richard, his sponsor and grand-sponsor have become powers of example in my life by how they work and live the program of Alcoholics Anonymous as it is outlined in the "Big Book."

Come check out "The Big Book Unplugged"!! Like me, YOU will get blown away! :-) Love and Service, Peace and Blessings, Jim S.
