Assistant Head of Year

WORKING PATTERN: 35 Hours per week (08:00am – 3:30pm), term time only

SALARY: Grade 4 SP17-21 (£17,547 – 19,939) pro-rata (£14,638 - £16,634)

START DATE: Asap

CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2017 (Ref: AHF)

You will be located in Didsbury, (often voted as one of the most popular places to live in Manchester) only a short walk from the vibrant shops, bars and restaurants of Didsbury village. You will also have access to excellent transport links to Manchester city centre and surrounding areas.

This is a new post and you will work alongside the Head of Year and Pastoral Manager to provide support to a particular year group with their behaviour, personal, social and emotional welfare. You will provide support and guidance and deliver all non-academic interventions to students in your year group and work collaboratively with staff and parents in order to support student well-being and improve student behaviour, attendance and punctuality. You will also provide mentoring to support students in your allocated year group either individually or as part of a group.

You should:

·  Have experience of working successfully with students/young people and their families

·  Have experience of providing pastoral support/interventions to students

·  Have a clear understanding of pastoral and student guidance and support issues in schools.

·  Experience of using effective behaviour modification programmes and strategies

·  Be able to establish relationships with students and their families

·  Be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences including school staff, students, parents and external agencies

·  Have the ability to organise, motivate and inspire students.
