The Week in a Nutshell:

Over break our endangered animal clay figures were fired in KMS’s new kiln and were ready for us to put the final touches on. We learned about the process of glazing from Mrs. Seitz and then set to work to glaze our animals with the details we learned about them during our research. After the animals were then fired once again in the kiln, they were ready to join their habitats they made. They sure turned out great! The final project along with our reports will be on display in the District Art Show which opens this Sunday at 1:00 at KHS. I hope you have time to stop by the Art Show and see them! They are pretty awesome!

We are heading into the conclusion of our Judy Moody book. This week Judy has a plan to help the environment that looks like it might really work this time. As we finish the book we will find out if that is true or not and why. I have a feeling that we will see that all working together will be more successful than just one person J.

This week during our social skills time with Mrs. Jansen we met Farkle McBride from the book The Amazing Farkle McBride. At the point where we left the story Farkle was invaded by Rock Brain. We will have to wait till next week to see if he can use a strategy to defeat Farkle in the story. We then continued our review each of our Unthinkables with a fun Jeopardy game that we will continue playing next week.

Our creatures now have faces! Today during OT we used our fine motor skills and what we had learned about sewing to put the final touches on our creatures’ faces. Next Friday we will be ready to learn the ins and outs of using a sewing machine and will start the process of sewing them front and back together. They are getting closer and closer to being done!

The final book orders of the year were sent home today. There are quite a few included in today’s packet as a number have come my way for the end of the year. There are some great books for summer reading at great prices and enough choices to hit everyone’s reading fancy J.
