- Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution
The college was set up with the goal and objectives of providing higher education facilities to the rural poor students of the region and preserves the mixed cultural heritage of the State, to inculcate values and to equip the graduates to face confidently the challenges of modern India.
The effective establishment of the IQAC cell has been done and it has been trans-located to the new science building of the college with essential facilities like electricity, computer etc. It was also ensured that the IQAC cell have the access to all the academic as well as administrative sectors of the college and essential information related to the students affairs and others can be brought into notice by the authority as and when required. Students have given full access to the convener as well as the members of IQAC to discuss their academic matters (Personal matters also if required) and notice has been issued by the authority to the students.
- New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG)
New academic programmes initiated at UG level are as follows
Bachelor in Computer Application(3 years- Six semester course)
ii) Diploma in Computer Application (1 year-2 semester course)
iii) Physical Education (3 years Degree Couese)
- Innovations in curricular design and transaction
In 2009,a high profile committee namely Academic committee was formed. The mission and the vision of the committee is to look after each and every academic aspect of the college.
The committee was headed by one distinguished senior Associate Professor and five other experienced faculties of the college.
The said committee worked on Innovations in Curriculum Design with the mission of promoting excellence and innovation in curriculum design. The committee was divided into two work groups:
i) One work group developed a repository of current curriculum innovations.
ii)And the other work group developed proposal with current curriculum innovations for onward transmission to the University for necessary up gradation of the curriculum.
- Inter-disciplinary programme started
Existing curriculum design promotes inter-disciplinary mingling. To name a few – Faculties of Department of Information Technology, English, Mathematics, and so on deliver lectures and provide necessary inputs in different other departments as and when required.
Scope for any other inter disciplinary programme is about to be initiated.
- Examination reforms implemented
Two types of examination are conducted for performance evaluation purposes. Question papers and evaluation of External examination is directly controlled by the University at the end of the every Academic period.
On the other unlike previous years, in 2009-2010 academic year for the first time three unit tests are introduced instead of one. These unit tests are controlled and conducted by the college solely for inter evaluation purpose.The unit tests are conducted by the academic committee of the college. These three tests are conducted across the year in the month of August, November and January of the every academic session.
In addition to the theory exams,science departments also conduct practical exams during unit tests. After evaluation of the answer scripts the students who require attention, remedial and extra classes are being conducted. In addition to the three unit tests, many departments conduct weekly test in the format of MCQ pattern and assignment followed by viva-voce.

7. Initiative towards faculty development programme
7.1Professional Development Calendar
Professional development calendar for every year is prepared keeping in view of the faculty development programmes sponsored by UGC or other funding agencies. Faculties are also communicated through the IQAC cell aboutNational and International seminars, symposiums and workshops for participation across the year.
7.2Leadership Activities
To enhance effective teaching methodologies, every now and then Inter disciplinary group discussions among the faculty members are practiced.
Students are also encouraged to take part in different academic discussions so that they may trace out the leadership qualities among them. The students are also encouraged to participate in the science exhibitions and other sports events so as to achieve leadership quality.
7.3Teaching Resources
Repository of the latest books and journals as well as the soft copies of Encyclopedia and Britannica has been procured for easy and fast reference for the students as well as for the faculties of the college.
Internet facility, Projector, Xerox machine etc.are used to augment teaching-learning process in the college.
7.4Simulation and Technology
Departmental science museums have been maintained by some of the departments like Zoology, Botany, and Geography. Other departments like Environmental science, Bengali and English uses the softcopies of different documentary, Short Films, CDs of Drama during deliberation of lectures. Other departments also use the PPT projections as and when required during lectures.

Mass plantation of Medicinal plants and herbs is done within the college premises in the year 2009-2010.An approximate area of 1 acre is utilized for this project. Over and across time a moderate amount of internal revenue generation may be expected from this project.

In the year 2009-2010 third blood donation camp was organize by the NCC unit of the college. 36 students donated blood in the camp.
i. NCC and NSS volunteers play a vital role for different awareness campaigns in the nearby localities of this college.
ii. Students of Department of Environmental Science as a part of their academic curricular performs Socio Economic Survey every year in different localities to study the socio economic status of the population and discuss the possible way out to uplift the status of the natives of those villages.
iii. Student’s Union Council organizes Blood Donation Camps in collaboration with the State NSS cell
iv. Students of the Environmental Science department organizes awareness programmes in different localities of Belonia subdivision
- Teachers and officers newly recruited
Govt. of Tripura recruited teachers and officers for the college as and when required. During the year 2008-2009 Govt. recruited 15 nos. Assistant Professors for the college thereby enhancing qualitative growth of the college
During the year 2009-10 Govt. had also recruited 1 Librarian for the college.

Feedback from stakeholders
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College Positioned 2nd among all the general degree colleges of Tripura under Tripura University in the year 2009-2010. As it is quite a note-worthy achievement of the college, feedback from all the stakeholders of the college is quite satisfactory and enough inspiring.
24. Unit cost of education:
Unit cost of education for each student during the year is calculated as follows: Rs. 9510
Unit cost of education=Total Recurring and Non-recurring expenditures divided by number of students enrolled.
25. Computerization of administration and the process of admissions and examination results, issue of certificates
The administration of the college is fully computerized. For example, Students personal records, Records of Marks obtained, Stipend to the students, Salary of the teaching and non-teaching staffs etc.
26. Increase in the infrastructural facilities
New Science building has been developed to support the following departments: Botany, Environmental Science, Geography, Physiology and Zoology.
All the departments have procured different high end equipment for the benefit of the UG students and also to run research work in the departments
27. Technology up gradation
The college has been provided high speed internet connection with “Wi-Fi” system in some places. All science departments as well as the teacher’s common room in Arts building has been provided wired internet connection.
Development of smart classes has been initiated
Large teaching rooms have been provided with speakers to make lectures audible.
28. Computer and internet access and training to teachers, non-teaching staff and students
Faculty members and staffs have full access to the internet. Students are partially permitted to avail the facility in the library with the vigilance of librarian of the college
Periodically teachers are permitted to go for Orientation as well as Refresher courses organized by different Academic Staff Colleges of different Universities of India
Teachers are also encouraged to participate in the National and International Seminars/Symposiums/Workshops
No such training programs have been conducted to train the Non-teaching staffs except the Librarian for their benefit.
29. Financial aid to students
Financial aid to the students has been provided according to the norms of State Government as annual stipend.
30. Activities and support from the Alumni Association
The Alumni Association of this college has been very active for the last couple of years. The members show their spontaneous effort for the development of work culture in the college. They organize seminars before commencement of every academic session where they invite the parents and students who have passed out higher secondary examination to disseminate the idea for opting different subjects at degree level. They also discuss the prospectus of every subject to the students. The members of the alumni visit the institute periodically in accordance to the career council cell of this college.
31. Activities and support from the Parent-Teacher Association
Parent –Teacher Association plays a vital role to keep the track of the students overall development. The parents are informed by the authority about any achievement of the student, information related to marks obtained in the examinations to support the feebler students. They are also informed about the Annual Calendar of the college.
32. Health services
Periodical Medical and Dental health checkup programs have been initiated in collaboration with the South District Hospital under National Rural Health Mission Scheme.
Female students are being provided free Iron Tablets and other medicines as directed by the physicians
33. Performance in sports activities
In the year 2009-2010 students participated in different events of inter college tournaments:
Judo- Four students participated in judo and won medals. Rimasu Mog won Gold Medal, Prasenjit Banik won Gold Medal,Papiya Baidya won Silver Medal, and Rakesh Datta won Bronze Medal.
ii) Table Tennis- Rajib Majumder won Gold Medal in Table Tennis.
iii) Football- A team of 16 students participated in football match. The team comprised of –Jeremy Darlong, Rakesh Datta, Rajib Majumder, Pranab Debnath, Khushimohan Tripura, Pushpanta Majumder, Balai Das, Samar Das, Debabrata Reang, Chandan Das, Samar Kanti Das, Hemanta Reang ,Mahendra Reang , Jewel Saha , Mithun Debnath, and Naraya Datta.
34. Incentives to outstanding sportspersons
No such incentives are being provided by the institute
Student achievements and awards:
During the academic year 2009-2010- i) 2 students Miss Rimashu Mog and Gayatri Biswas attended Pre-Republic Day campaign at Shillong.ii) Miss Rimashu Mog(She was the only NSS volunteer from Tripura) participated in Republic Day parade in New Delhi. iii) Miss Ruma Bhattacharjee and Rakhi Muhuri attended Summer Adventure camp at Shimla.
35. Activities of the Guidance and Counseling unit
The performance of the Guidance and Counseling unit centers only in organizing seminars on recent advancement in the field of science.
The passing out students of third year are not being given continuous guidance to shape their future.
However an effort has been taken up by the department of Environmental Science to guide the said students and also to prepare them for competitive examinationrun by Tripura Public Service Commission.

38. Department of Information Technology has conducted a 3 days training programme on MS Office to the non-competent staffs of this college.
The librarian has been sent for training on library automation and managemt in National Library, Kolkata firstly and there after Birchandra State Library for training on “E-Granthalaya” software designed by National Informatics Centre, Tripura State Branch.
39. Good practices of the institution
- Toxic and non-toxic chemicals of the different science departments have been channeled for safe disposal.
- Periodical pruning and cutting of jungles takes place and volunteers of NSS and NCC participates in it.
- Students are given preference in all the academic affairs and complaint box has been maintained by the authority
- Different statutory bodies of the college performs well
- Students are encouraged for excursion and educational tours
- Linkages developed with National/ International, academic/research bodies
