Thank you for your interest in The Affinity Center. We are dedicated to being the best and most comprehensive facility of its kind; an innovative center for the evaluation and treatment of Attention, Behavior, Learning and Mood disorders, specializing in Attention-Deficit /Hyperactivity Disorder.

Before opening our doors in late 1996, we spent two years conducting research and planning the center. We began by asking informed consumers and their families, as well as health care professionals, what services they wanted and needed. People were very specific about their desire to have innovative, comprehensive, yet flexible services. They also wanted professionals available to them who were not only knowledgeable about AD/HD, but other conditions as well. Above all, people told us they wanted individualized treatment and to be fully informed about the rationale and costs for the wide range of treatment options they expected. Many of these people were consumers who were discouraged and frustrated by the options available in our community. They told us their primary interest was “humane” and “adequate” treatment for their attention related issues, and to get help for the problems in living created by those issues. The result was The Affinity Center.

The following is a list of options available for clients who are interested in evaluation and treatment at The Affinity Center. We have developed a number of ways to evaluate for attention, mood or learning disorders and to determine the best treatment approach. Many conditions, from chronic physical illnesses to other psychiatric conditions can look like AD/HD or other attention related disorders, so it is important to look at the whole picture before beginning any specific treatment regimen. We take a careful look at the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and even spiritual aspects of people’s lives before we develop a treatment plan. Our evaluation and treatment systems meet or exceed the recommendations established nationwide by a variety of professional and consumer driven organizations (such as the American Medical Association and the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association of America). Our services are different than what are usually available in the treatment community and because of their unique nature and our individualized approach, some of these services may not be covered by your health insurance.

Our services include:

Intake Call: We ask that anyone interested in coming to the center call and schedule twenty minutes on the phone with one of the clinical staff. There is no charge for this phone call. We want to discuss your concerns and treatment questions and then decide together if coming to the center makes sense and how we might be of help to you. We will be happy to answer specific questions about the center, including those about costs.

Clinical Consultation: This initial diagnostic assessment is offered following the Intake Call and the client’s completion of the Home Questionnaire. Additional information, such as copies of previous evaluations, health records, school records, and any other pertinent information may be reviewed as well. This is the first phase of our assessment process but it

Paying attention is only part of it!
