BI-ANNUAL REPORT (April – Sept. 2012)

The period from April to September 2012, for the school, has been an enlightening journey, studded with constructive activities, the unstinted support and appreciation of the parents and co-operation and effort of the staff members.

A synopsis of the developments and achievements of the school from the month of April to September in the year 2012 is given below.

ACADEMIC

1.  The school re-opened for the session 2012-13 on April 3, 2012, amidst lots of excitement, anticipation and optimism. The whole school awaited the declaration of the Board results of Std. X & XII with bated breath.

The result was much to the satisfaction of the students, teachers and the parents, a detailed analysis of which is given below:

2.  It was decided that the students of Std. X session 2012-13 would appear for their Board Exams after having taken the written consent of their parents.

3.  Activities and class-tests were incorporated as a part of Formative Assessment, the details of which are as under:

4.  a) Unit Test-1 for Std. I, II, III and Std. XII was conducted from July 14th to July 21st, 2012.

b) Unit Test-2 for Std. I to III, SA-1 for Std. IV to X and Half Yearly for Std. XI & XII was conducted from Sept.15th-Sept.29th, 2012.


ADMINISTRATIVE

1.  It was decided that every 2nd Saturday of the month would be an Open-House i.e. PTM between 11.00 to 12.30 p.m. Two PTMs were conducted on 28.04.2012 and 01.09.2012 respectively.

2.  Owing to the resignation of two teachers, new appointments were made as follows:

3.  There was around 10% hike overall in the School fee for the session 2012-13.

CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS

1.  Literary :

a)  The school quiz team comprising two students – Gaurav Kumar and Jayshreeba Rathod, won the first prize in the Inter School Science Fest, 2012,held on Aug.4,2012 at K.D. Ambani Vidyamandir, Jamnagar after facing many challenges in the preliminary rounds. The team was escorted by Mr. Rajesh Srivastava. About eight schools from the Saurashtra region had participated in the competition with the theme : ‘Prevention of Global Warming’.

b)  Chirangi Singh Rajawat of Std. X also bagged the third position in the Poster Making Competition which was also a part of the Fest.

c)  Under the able guidance Of Mr.Rajesh Srivastava, the school participated in the prestigious Regional Level CBSE Science Exhibition organized at the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya, Jaipur. About 200 models were exhibited by around 150 schools on various themes such as health, energy, environment, mathematics, agriculture and disasters.

d)  The school brought laurels home, once again, in the Inter School Hindi Pratiyogita organized by D.P.S. Rajkot. Two groups comprising three students each were escorted by Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma on Sept.8, 2012 and a prize each was won by both. While the participants won the second prize in Elocution, the third went to Poetry Recitation.

2.  Sports :


The school sports team constituting of 7 members participated in the CBSE Cluster Table Tennis Tournament 2012-13 in the Under 14 and Under 19 Boys’ event, held at D.P.S. Rajkot. Over 50 CBSE schools in Western India participated in the event. Our boys competed with vigor and returned with loads of experience and a strong will to put up a better performance in the coming year. Mr. Balvir Singh Yadav was the coach.

3.  Music :

The students of our school bagged the third prize in a Group Song Competition organized by the Bharat Vikas Parishad after a hearty fight with 14 other schools of the district. This was held at the Sanskritik Bhavan, Somnath.

4.  Art and Craft :

a)  The school bagged the third position in the Drawing and the Poster making Competitions held at K.D.Ambani, Jamnagar.

b)  A whopping six prizes were won by our painters in an Inter School Painting Competition held at I.D. Chauhan High School,Veraval, under the aegis of the coast guard.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

1.  The session commenced with health and vigor as the school organized a session of Yogathan and Suryanamaskar on April 7, 2012. There was a mass participation of students while many of the teachers also took interest.

2.  This was followed by an anti-cancer campaign involving enlightening sessions on the dangers of the intake of nicotine, tobacco, junk food and other carcinogenic elements. A huge amount was donated by our students for the Cancer Relief Fund.

3.  On 15th September, 2012, 10 students from our school participated in the Coastal Cleanliness Day held under the aegis of the Indian Coast Guard, Veraval.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES

1.  Inter-house Football Match for Boys (Classes VI-VIII) was held on May 4th & May 5th, 2012.

2.  Inter-house Cricket Tournaments for Girls (Classes VI-VIII & IX-XII) were held on May 7th & May 8th, 2012 respectively.

3.  Inter-house Dodge Ball was played among the Boys of Classes III-V between May 9th to May 12th, 2012.

4.  Inter-House Table-Tennis Competition for both Boys & Girls for Classes IX-XII was held on Aug. 23rd, 2012.

5.  Inter-house Carom Competition for both Boys & Girls for Classes IX-XII was held on Aug. 24th, 2012.

CELEBRATIONS

1.  On August 8, 2012, investiture ceremony was held during the School assembly. The School Council was formally commissioned by the Principal in a solemn ceremony.

2.  The 66th Independence Day of India was marked by the hoisting of the National Flag, Patriotic Speeches were given by students as well as teachers and patriotic songs were sung.

3.  Teacher’s Day was celebrated on Sept. 5, 2012. A beautiful cultural programme put up by the children in the morning was followed an even better one in the evening. The occasion was marked by the presence of Mr. Sidhartha Ghosh, Secretary, ABES, Veraval, Mr. B. Mohandoss, Principal, ABHSS, Veraval and Mr. A. Vijayan, Vice-Principal, ABHSS, Veraval.

TEACHERS’ ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

1.  All the faculties (Teaching Staff) were given a compact and rigorous in-house training on CCE and Scholastic Evaluation by the Deptt. of Comp. Education, for enlightenment on scholastic, co-scholastic and non-scholastic areas as well as to keep abreast with the customization of formative and summative assessments.

2.  Mrs. Sudha Sharma & Mr. Dinesh Kumar attended a workshop on Hindi at PRFS, Mathura.

3.  Ms. Geeti Bharadwaj and Mrs. Lovika Goel attended a workshop on English at PRFS, Mathura, organized by the Oxford University Press.

4.  Mrs. Devyani Pala, Mrs. Malvika Ghanshani & Mrs. Mandakini Pandey attended a workshop on English (Pre-primary to Std.II) organized by Oxford University Press at ABHSS, Veraval.

5.  Mrs. Sumita Biswas and Mr. Basavaraj Honawad attended an English workshop organized by the Oxford University Press at Hotel Kaveri, Veraval.

INFRASTRUCTURAL GROWTH

1.  The construction of a Basket-ball Court is in process.

2.  Planning has been made for the establishment of a Language Lab.
