The Australian off road racing scene loses a friend and competitor

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to

RICHARD BENNETT

Richard was one of Adelaide Buggy Clubs most enthusiastic competitors.

Born in the Mallee town of Pinnaroo 45 years ago, he started racing during the days of the "Sunset Enduro". Regularly seen at off road events with a young blonde by the name of Debbie whom he eventually married and had children Kirsty and Mark. Uncle to another ABC member, Michael Bennett. Richard, brother David, Marty Black and Craig Napper all from Pinnaroo built their own buggies and with another Mallee boy, Andy Prentice from Lameroo they formed quite a team. Always a thinker, I think if he could have re-invented the square wheel and made it work he would have done it.

Richard competed in all forms of off road racing but particularly liked the now defunct stadium racing. He was the manufacturer of the very popular class 4 truck.

Richard will be sadly missed by all, but I am sure he will not be forgotten.
