The 22nd Annual Sports Festival of Southern California and
The 32nd Chinese-American Games – Track and Field Meet
What are new for 2012?
A goal to condense the traditional two-day track and field meet to a one-day schedule has been set. The following items represent a direct response to many Chinese schools’ requests and needs. They are necessitated by reality and technical requirements. These items are to be used to clarify changes or new features to be strictly implemented in 2012 for a smooth transition. Let us work as a team in achieving this common goal. Your full cooperation is greatly appreciated by the volunteering staff of the Chinese-
American Athletic Association (CAAA).
- A sound & complete schedule is the prerequisite of a successful track & field meet. And the prerequisite for a sound & complete schedule is the timely submission of completely accurate entry forms. It is CAAA’s earnest expectation that all schools/teams that plan to join the 2012 Meet will be able to do so with the cash incentive plan to be initiated by CAAA. Schools/teams that complete & submit accurate entry forms on or before Friday, March 30, 2012 will be offered cash incentive in the following manner: A $100 award will be presented to any schools/teams with 20 participants in individual track or field events (excluding group relay & tug-of-war participants and unduplicated count of multiple-event participants). Each additional participant will generate an extra $5 award with a combined cap of $250 for up-to 50 individual entries. Extra cash incentive of $25, $50 & $100 will be awarded to three schools with the highest numbers of participants beyond 50. The number of participants will be verified according to the properly completed & submitted entry forms (on or before Friday, March 30, 201) and the number of participants present for the school in the opening ceremony march (to be held on Saturday, March 28, 2012), whichever is lower.
- The restrictions on events available by age group is to be strictly followed by CAAA scheduling staff. There will be no refund or inclusion in the official schedule of WRONG ENTRIES submitted by schools/teams. Please adhere to the important reminders listed below (please refer to the “2012 T&F Ind Entry Form.xls” for clarification of restriction on events available by age group to avoid any potential mistakes):
- Children “7 & Under” are only limited to three events: 50M Run, Standing Broad Jump and Soft-Ball-Throw-for-Distance.
- 50M Run and Standing Broad Jump are NOT offered to anyone with an age of 10 or over.
- 1,500M Run & Triple Jump are eliminated to shorten the schedule.
- In order to avoid potential delays, no semi-final or final heat will be conducted for the 50M, 100M & 200M Runs. Winners will be determined & medals awarded according to each separate heat by age.
- The F&S, F&D, M&S and M&D Family Relay will not be open to children “7 & Under.”
- To minimize the headache/difficulty to recruit enough runners for the Group Relay, the traditional team of 10 regular runners will be reduced to 8 (with 2 subs). The running distances are adjusted to speed things up:
- 400M or 8 x 50M Group Relay for girls’ age groups of 8-9 & 10-12 (50M per runner)
- 800M or 8 x 100M Group Relay for boys’ 8-18 age groups & girls’ age groups of 13-15 & 16-18 (100M per runner)
- Subs of winning teams will also receive medals if present during the relay.
MANY THANKS TO PRINCIPALS / TEAM LEADERS / STAFF RESPONISBLE FOR PREPARING & SUBMITTING ENTRY FORMS TO CAAA FOR TIMELY PROCESSING
