Thanksgiving Program and Feast!!!!

Our Feast and Program will be held Tuesday, November 24th at 12:30 in our classroom and then followed by a program in the cafeteria at 2:00. Please come and join us, the more the merrier! I have sent home a note regarding the Feast and what needs to be donated for the Feast. Please email me if you have any questions: Thank you in advance!

Please send your son/daughter dressed in dark clothing, we will be Pilgrims and Indians in our program.

Please remember to check your child’s green folder each night for papers and important news. I would also likeyou to initial the date on the calendar each evening, so I know you have seen your child’s behavior for the day. If your child has had to color their day, I will always write a brief note to let you know what the behavior issue was.

Share and Tell: Letter H or Thanksgiving on Friday the 20th

No School! Friday, November 13th ( Teacher Inservice) Wednesday, November 25th, Thursday, November 26th and Friday November 27th( Thanksgiving Break)

Thanksgiving Celebration: November 24th at 12:30 and we will be having a Thanksgiving performance at 2:00 in the cafeteria. Please let me know if you plan on attending the feast and performance. Please see the not in your child’s folder about Feast items.

Homework this Week: No packet! Just read nightly, play an Everyday Math game online and work on tying shoes!

Homework Packet: In the Return to School side of your child’s folder is a homework packet. Please read the directions and only send the daily work back. Please spend a small amount of time working with your child each evening.

Homework: If your child brings home a paper with an orange “homework” stamp, please complete and talk about the skill with your child. It is being sent home in addition to and/or they did not finish that center skill for the day. Math Links are sent home during the week to explain the math center skills your child completed this week. Please return the papers on the “Return to School” side of your child’s yellow folder. 

Nametags: Your child has 2 nametags in their folder, please make sure the name tags are in their folder each night, we use them daily in class rotation. Thanks!

Language Arts/Reading:

We are beginning Theme 4: Friends Together. The objectives in this theme are beginning sounds, blending and segmenting onset and rimewords in oral sentences, initial consonant Vv our Alpha friend: Vinnie Volcano, sequence of events, predict and infer, high frequency words: I , see, my, like and a to , blending short a words, concepts of print, capitalizing first word in sentences and end punctuation.

This week we will focus on:

  • Daily routines
  • Alpha friend: Hattie Horse
  • Initial consonants: Ss, Mm, Rr , Tt, Bb, Nn, Hh
  • Daily Story
  • Storytelling skills with our wordless books
  • Reading books with I, see ,my like, a, toHFW ( High Frequency Words)

  • Read wordless books to be put in our Book Buckets
  • I See A Playground
  • Nat at Bat
  • I Like Rainbows
  • Listening Centers
  • Concept of left, right, top and bottom.

Math:

We have begun our math series, Everyday Math. Each week we will have a whole group skill and a small group manipulation of the whole group skill.

This week we will focus on:

  • Estimation Jars: estimating the number of objects in a collection. I will send a note home with the date on it for your child’s turn with the estimation jar.
  • Macaroni Neclaces/Noodle Necklaces
  • Number Books 0-10
  • Roll and Record

We continue to work on the computer with Everyday Math online games. Please work and play with your child at home! Thanks!

We will be working on the letter Hhand numbers 1-20

Science/Social Studies

In Social Studies we will be learning about:

  • Thanksgiving preparation
  • Indians and Pilgrims
  • Sink and Float
  • How water changes

Extra Clothes: Please send a change of clothing for your child to have in their cubby in case of an accident.

We will also be going outside for fresh air each day, please make sure your chikld is dressed for the weather. Our classroom is also a bit chilly, if you would like to send a sweatshirt for your child to keep in their cubby, that would be great!!

Blankets for Rest Time

Please remember to send your child’s rest blanket back each Monday!

Please send me any notes, changes in schedules, etc. in your child’s green folder that is to be returned daily!

Your child has been given a watter botle to use in the classroom each day. I will send them home each Friday to be washed. Please return them each Monday.

November 30th: White shirt and $1.00 due to Mrs. Burrus

We will be making Christmas reindeer sweatshirt on December 3rd. Please send a white long sleeve t-shirt, sweat shirt or turtle neck to be decorated. To help cover the cost of the supplies, please send in $1.00 as well.
