Thank you for your interest in holding an event at the Shaker Heritage Society, site of the first Shaker settlement. We make you kindly welcome!

Here is some general information about our facilities:

Shaker Heritage Society rents both the 1848 Shaker Meeting House and the 1915 Shaker Barn for parties, weddings and other events. Both buildings can hold up to 300 people but are best suited to 150-200 if a sit down dinner is planned.

Rental provides access to the space. We are a small museum and are not able to provide other services or equipment related to weddings or other events. Those who rent our facilities are responsible for all clean up including removal of trash.Up to 4 hours for set up and tear down as well as use of the grounds are included in the rental fee.

The barn does not have water, heat or bathroom facilities so you will need to rent porta sans or a self contained bathroom trailer. The Meeting House does have recently remodeled restrooms, heat and a handicap access ramp. The bathrooms do not meet ADA accessibility standards but can accommodate most wheelchairs.

We have a list of catering companies and other vendors for your convenience. We strongly recommend that our guests select vendors from this list since they are familiar with the historic site and its facilities.

We require that you carry your own liability insurance and we also have some common sense restrictions intended to preserve the historic building (no open flame, no staples used on walls etc). All events must end by 10pm and the facility must be vacated by 11pm.

Rental rates for weddings start at $1,000 for a standard 5 hour rental. Contact us for pricing since rates vary depending on the building and date selected.Individuals and businesses interested in hosting meetings and shorter events should contact us for rental rates and additional information. We offer discounts and partnership opportunities to other not-for-profit organizations. All proceeds from facility rentals support the historic preservation efforts of the Shaker Heritage Society.

We also offer a variety of education programs and craft demonstrations that could provide a unique enhancement to your event. Contact our Education Director, Samantha Saladino at 518-456-7890 ext. 23 for more information.
