The Newport Revitalization and Preservation Society (NRPS), in conjunction with the Newport Borough Council, is organizing the next annual Canal Day on Saturday, October 4, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We will be offering a full schedule of entertainment, including music and a children’s activity area. The day will begin with a Newport High School Pep Rally. The Louise Beard Memorial and Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Canal Day will be held rain or shine. This event will be promoted through local newspapers and other media outlets. The NRPS website will contain a complete vendor list, with websites, and the event schedule. Additionally, thousands of residents in the Newport and New Bloomfield area will receive postcards announcing the event. There are over 80 spaces available. The fee per space is $25. Electricity is available on a limited basis. The fee for this service is $10. Spaces, which are approximately 10 feet wide, are assigned on a first come, first served basis and special requests are accommodated in the same manner. Yard sale items are not permitted.
Please send the enclosed space reservation form along with a check to NRPS, PO Box 13, Newport, PA 17074. The deadline for applications is August 31st. Space reservation forms may also be dropped off at Carpetbagger Collectibles, 12 South 2nd Street, Newport. We will confirm receipt of your application within 1 week. Space assignments will be sent to you by September 20th.
On the day of the event, set up time will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tables and chairs are not provided. Canopies with anchors are encouraged. All vehicles must be removed from the square by 8:30 a.m. Parking will be available along nearby streets, parking lots and alleys.
