WELCOME TO THE CREATIVE RECYCLING CENTRE!
The ‘Creative Recycling Centre’ is an environmentally focussed, not-for-profit incorporated community group based in the Gladstone region.
The CRC is overseen by a Management Committee made up of a group of passionate individuals contributing a diverse range of skills and knowledge, across the fields of environment, business, art, accounting and education. All members have a passion for working with and for the community and have worked in community service roles or held volunteer positions in numerous community groups and clubs. The Management Committee is assisted by an equally passionate group of volunteers who support the group with the day to day running of the CRC and project work. The CRC is currently partnering with other likeminded organisations to support each other’s mission and vision.
VOLUNTEERING WITH THE CREATIVE RECYCLING CENTRE
As a non-or-profit organisation CRC relies heavily on the great work of a group of dedicated volunteers. There are number of volunteer positions that need to be filled with new opportunities arising regularly. The CRC also runs events and craft days throughout the year and is always looking for helpers.
PRINCIPLES OF VOLUNTEERING
Why volunteer?
In today’s contemporary society, there are competing demands on our busy lives and it can be incredibly challenging to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and your community. Volunteering can help you find friends through greater networks, reach out to the community, learn new skills, and even change or advance your career. Additionally, volunteering can also help protect your mental and physical health, so it’s well worth exploring your local community for how you can get involved.
Formal volunteering
Formal volunteering is an activity which takes place through not for profit organisations or projects and is undertaken:
- to be of benefit to the community and the volunteer;
- of the volunteer’s own free will and without coercion;
- for no financial payment; and
- in designated volunteer positions only
Principles of Volunteering
- Volunteering benefits the community and the volunteer;
- Volunteer work is unpaid;
- Volunteering is always a matter of choice;
- Volunteering is not compulsorily undertaken to receive pensions or government allowances;
- Volunteering is a legitimate way in which citizens can participate in the activities of their community;
- Volunteering is a vehicle for individuals or groups to address human, environmental and social needs;
- Volunteering is an activity performed in the not for profit sector only;
- Volunteering is not a substitute for paid work;
- Volunteers do not replace paid workers nor constitute a threat to the job security of paid workers;
- Volunteering respects the rights, dignity and culture of others; and
- Volunteering promotes human rights and equality
