JOB SUMMARY

The Therapeutic Services Manager will lead the expansion and development of Rise’s range of therapeutic services into an inclusive and integrated service for adults, children and families who are at risk of or surviving domestic violence and abuse. They will ensure the effective delivery of a range of therapeutic modalities, including play therapy for children and young people. They will be responsible for the on-going management of the service and contribute to the overall management of RISE, as a member of the Management Team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. / MANAGERIAL
1.1 / Overall management responsibility for Rise’s therapeutic services.
1.2 / Recruitment of adult, children and family therapists and supervisors to the service.
1.3 / To develop and implement organisational recruitment, induction and training procedures for all new members of staff/volunteers in the team, processing contracts in liaison with HR where appropriate.
1.4 / To develop and implement a dynamic Service Development Plan in line with Rise's Strategic Business Plan and Outcomes Framework.
1.5 / To ensure all staff have regularly reviewed personal work plans with clear links to the Service Development Plan.
1.6 / To receive and actively participate in regular internal line-management and external clinical supervision.
1.7 / To line-manage the counselling co-ordinator and other therapeutic posts, and delegate to them appropriately.
1.8 / To oversee, via line management of the counselling co-ordinator, the implementation of service processes such as the waiting list, referral protocols, and other relevant systems.
1.9 / To manage any client complaints and/or counsellor performance issues arising within the counselling service, in conjunction with HR.
1.10 / To ensure adequate provision of clinical supervision to staff and volunteers in the team.
1.11 / To lead on therapeutic service team meetings.
1.12 / To oversee and manage the budget for the service, in liaison with the Head of Finance.
2. / CLINICAL
2.1 / To oversee assessments of clients.
2.2 / Oversight of client allocation to volunteer counsellors.
2.3 / To oversee all therapeutic group work programmes.
2.4 / To highlight and appropriately share clinical concerns, ethical issues or emergencies arising within the service.
2.5 / To meet with supervisors and individual counsellors/therapists on both a regular and ad hoc basis if necessary.
3. / MONITORING
3.1 / To ensure the service adheres to the UKCP and BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and any others relevant frameworks, and to ensure all operational policies, procedures and practices are compliant with these on an on-going basis.
3.2 / Ensure all staff have appropriate training, skills and knowledge to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and contracts.
3.3 / Ensure client record and storage systems are maintained and comply with BACP, UKCP, and any other relevant regulations.
3.4 / Oversee and evaluate the clinical and business effectiveness of the service by use of appropriate qualitative and quantitative monitoring measures and tools, and sharing of this information in appropriate formats and forums.
3.5 / Provide qualitative and quantitative data and information, as determined externally by commissioners, and internally by the CEO and Senior Management Team.
4. / CHILD PROTECTION
4.1 / Ensure that all policies procedures and practices are in line with current legislative and best practice requirements with regard to child protection.
5. / PARTNERSHIP, STRATEGIC AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
5.1 / In conjunction with the Head of Client services, develop a business model for therapeutic services.
5.2 / Work in partnership with other agencies, including statutory and the 3rd sectors and other counselling service providers, including working together in delivering joint services.
5.3 / Lead on the strategic development of the therapeutic service.
5.4 / Attend multi-agency meetings as required.
5.5 / Identify and develop further opportunities for such joint working.
5.6 / Respond appropriately to external requests for information about the service, whether from service users, voluntary and statutory agencies or at strategic level.
5.7 / Take part in fundraising and tendering as necessary.
5.8 / Work with commissioners, local authority and health partners such as Children Young People and Family Services, Education, CAHMS etc. in developing referral pathways and generating funding streams.
5.9 / Deliver internal and external training as applicable to the role.
6. / GENERAL
6.1 / Represent Rise positively and effectively to partner agencies, service users, other stakeholders and the general public, at all times.
6.2 / Ensuring that Health and Safety regulations and risk management procedures/ business continuity plans are implemented and regularly reviewed for the service.
6.3 / Participate in training opportunities as required by their post.
6.4 / Ensure that all publicity meets the requirement of the organisation brand in conjunction with RISE’s Marketing and Communications Officer.
6.5 / At all times protect the safety and security of RISE and service users, staff, volunteers, and all those in the work of RISE, RISE premises and the confidentiality of records and other information.
6.6 / Uphold the right of women, children and young people who have experienced domestic violence, advocating for them while offering protective strategies, and appropriate safe services.
6.7 / Adhere to the terms of relevant legislation, especially in respect of Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adults, Equality & Diversity, Employment and Health and Safety; and also keep updated of any changes or proposed changes in relevant legislation, policy and practice.
6.8 / Undertake such other duties, appropriate to the grade and character of the work, as may reasonably be expected.
