"Thank God for The Family"

(Psalms 127:1)

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

(The Family, God's Idea)

Once, Jesus was asked by the Pharisees about Moses’ permission for a divorce.
· Jesus replied that divorce had been permitted only because of the hardness of their hearts! However, He then made a dramatic declaration:
· God joined husband and wife together (You Notice a Man and a Woman), that the two may be one flesh. And what God has joined together… let no man separate!
· Jesus was telling us that GOD ALMIGHTY instituted the marriage…Psalm 127says, GOD ALMIGHTY instituted the home! It is all a creation of God!
· Woe to the man, the culture, or the society, that bucks the majestic and glorious institution of God called the family. The second family Jesus addressed was His Church, the children of God in the Son of God, which Jesus said, "…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matt 16:18)

I.THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FAMILY.

(Psalms 127:1-5; 128:1-4)

A.The Strength of the Family. (Ps 127:1, 2)

1.Without the strength of God in the family, there is an emptiness or weaknessin the foundation.

2.If the hand of the Lord is not upon the family, you can watch and work but it will not help.

3.It is a waste of time to get up early and stay up late worried about the situation, which will not help.

4.Put your confidence in the Lord, He will provide all that is needed if we will just trust in Him.

B.The Fruit of the Family. (Ps. 127:3-5)

1.The children that we have are given to us by the Lord and it is from the womb that we receive the reward, takes a man and a woman.

2.The arrows that the mighty hunter has are cared for stored and shot straight for the proper result.

3.Happy is the man who has many children to be the fruit of his loins and that of his wife.

4.They will be properly prepared for life both taking care of business and the battle of life.

C.The Joy in the Family. (Ps. 128:1-4)

1.Happy is the family who respects God and lives in the center of His perfect way for them.

2.We will benefit for being obedient God will bless what we do and all will be well with us.

3.The wife of the man and his children will prosper and bring forth blessing to all they encounter.

4.The reiteration of the previous statement the man who is obedient to the Lord shall be blessed and happy.

II.THE ATTACK ON THE FAMILY.

(Matthew 19:1-8)

A.The test of God by a wicked heart. (Mat. 19:1-3)

1.Jesus as He travels about begins to draw a large crowd so He departs in another area.

2.However, even when He goes to a new area, great crowds gather around Him desiring to hear His words and see His works.

3.The religious leaders of the day also followed Him around but they were up to no good.

4.They asked Him a question about the legality of divorce as it is according to God's law.

B.The perfect plan of God for the family. (Mat. 19:4, 5)

1.Jesus answered them have you not read or according to the writings of the scripture of God.

2.God made male and female, He had a perfect plan for man and woman, not just two men or two women.

3.For this purpose man would leave the family unit of his parents which were also male and female and unit embrace cleave to his wife.

4.The two of them became one flesh; they were designed for each other to do the job of a man and woman, husband and wife to bear fruit or little people, male and female.

C.The hardness in the heart of disobedience. (Mat. 19:6-8)

1.They are no longer two people but one flesh, united in marriage recognized and honored by God.

2.What God has established, it is not the place nor is there any authority to change or pull apart.

3.No person, no government, no group or even evil thinking religious organizations can change God's plan.

4.They asked why then did God grant Moses a bill of divorcement, He said because of the hardness or disobedience of their hearts. God hates divorce and homosexual is an abomination. According toLeviticus 18:22"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."

III.THE FAMILY OF GOD, THE BELIEVERS.

(Romans 8:15-17; Ephesians 4:14, 15; Ephesians 5:1-11; 1 John 3:7, 8; 1 John 5:1-5)

A.Children of God in the Truth of God. (Rom. 8:15-17; Eph. 4:14, 15)

1.Rom 8:15-17For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

2.We have been adopted into the family of God and we no longer have fear, we are the children of God. We are heirs with Christ Jesus.

3.Ephesians 4:14-15That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

4.We are to know all things and not be confused by the craftiness of wicked men who are trying to pervert the will and the word of God.

B.Children of God walking in Love and Truth. (Eph. 5:1-11)

1.We are to live as dear children not caught up in immorality but giving thanks by our committed lifestyle.

2.These things are what will bring the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience for they are sin.

3.Do not partake with them you were children of darkness but now you know better live like it.

4.Our lifestyle fruit is righteousness and we are not to tolerate it but reprove immorality to show what is acceptable to God.

C.Children of God understanding Righteousness. (1 John 3:7, 8; 1 John 5:1-5)

1.1 John 3:7-8Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2.Right is right and wrong is wrong, those who do wrong are not of God but of the devil.

3. 1 John 5:1-5Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

4.If we believe we can overcome the treachery of the wicked culture that we live in and honor God in our life, our love and our commitment to Him.
