  1. How can I use my cell phone to make a donation?

Text “RENEW” to 45678 (Canada)reply to the confirmation message with a text stating “YES” and a one-time donation of $10 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance.

  1. Will I start receiving text alerts from World Renew once I make a text donation?

You will NOT receive text alerts from World Renew after making a text donation to this campaign; you will only receive text alerts if you opt-in.

  1. Who can see my mobile number when I make a text donation?

Your mobile number is kept confidential and it will not be shared with or used by anyone without your permission

  1. How do I request a tax receipt for my text donation?

You can request a tax receipt by e-mailing or by visiting (Canada). Note that the receipt will come from the Mobile Giving Foundation and not from World Renew, as such it will not be counted on your annual World Renew receipt.

  1. Why do I need to text back the word “YES” to complete the transaction?

Texting the word “YES” will confirm your donation and will help prevent fraud and errors

  1. What if I want to stop or cancel my donation?

If you change your mind about your donation, simply text “STOP” to 45678 (Canada). This will cancel your donation. You can also text “HELP” to 45678 to request assistance.

  1. This is a great campaign. I want to tell all my friends. How can I share the news?

Send a text message to your friends saying, “Hey! Text RENEW to 45678 to donate $10 to help raise funds for World Renew” or share it with others over social media.

  1. How much does this cost?

Any donation you initiate will be charged at $10 CDN and added directly to your wireless bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance. You can donate up to a maximum of $30 per month via your mobile phone. No messaging fees apply to donations – you will only be charged the $10 per donation. Wireless carriers have waived all fees for mobile donations; the carriers pass 100% of the donation through to the Mobile Giving Foundation, who then passes 100% of the donation on to World Renew.

  1. How are donations billed?

All donations are billed and payable to your mobile phone service provider. The service is available on most carriers. Donations are collected for the benefit of World Renew by the Mobile Giving Foundation and subject to the terms found at

  1. Is this a legitimate form of fundraising?

Yes. World Renew’s mobile giving program has been set up in partnership with ZipGive and The Mobile Giving Foundation. The Mobile Giving Foundation was founded in 2009 by veterans of the wireless industry, in partnership with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and the support of the Canadian wireless operators who wanted to harness the immense power of wireless communications to empower individuals to support their favourite causes.

  1. What is the purpose of the Mobile Giving Foundation and how does it work?

The Mobile Giving Foundation serves as the glue between a charitable organization, the wireless industry, and the 23 million wireless users in Canada. Mobile Giving processes and approves applications from registered charities wishing to use wireless technology in their communication and fundraising activities because they know it is critical to have a trusted third party – in this case the Mobile Giving Foundation – to affirm the quality and integrity of the charities using this technology to solicit donations.
