TESTIMONY OF A FORMER PROTESTANT (BAPTIST) - 355
My story
By Anne, 2007
Ibegan blogging duringour reconciliation to the Roman Catholic Church in October of 2005 and though we were fully received January 21, 2006, the journey has not ended. This blog documents that journey, the highs, the lows, the frustration, the joy… and though it seemed that way at first, I have discovered I do not journey alone. If you are on this road with me, welcome my fellow sibling in Christ, the scenery is unlike any other… let us journey on together… the Master is calling and the Table awaits…
The family:
Joe… 53 yrs old… My beloved husband, a cradle Catholic who loves the mountains, firearms/target shooting, solitude, and his family.I could say more but he values his privacy.
Anne… 34yrs old… That’s me, the Kid Sister… I grew up Baptist, converted to Catholicism in heart in November 2004, and was received into the Church in January of 2006. (Despite what many think, I did not convert because I married a Catholic. We were married for 13 years before my conversion.) My hobbies include reading, mathematics, needlepoint (I am currently hemstitching altar linens for my parish), blogging and surfing the net… while that isn’t the extent of my interests, that’s about all I have time for because I’m a homeschooling mom to four daughters. We are currently completing our 10th year educating our children at home.
Pumpkin… 14 yr old daughter, 8th grade… also known as the bunny-keeper, loves to read, plays the guitar and viola. She is a wonderful story-teller and entertains her sisters most nights with segments of stories as they go to sleep. She excels at every subject she studies but her real strength lies in understanding and creative use of the written word. Pumpkin is a tough young ladywho has a keen sense of justice and is known to be a Protector of the Small.
Precious… 11 yr old daughter, 5th grade… a sensitive soul and severely dyslexic child with a love for reading, plants, and animals. She reads well and voraciously, despite her disability, and works hard to do well in all endeavors. Her favorite subject is figural logic. Her sisters always introduce her as 'the nice one'. She has a heart of gold and a sunny disposition. A very devout child, Precious is a good example to her sisters.
Cricket… 9 yr old daughter, 4th grade… our most intense child. Cricket loves to read and has a tender heart for cats, particularly big cats and domesticated ones that don’t like to use their litter box. She is particularly good at mathematics and I tend to correct the teacher’s manual by her work. Cricket has a similar mind and ability to her elder sister Pumpkin, and yet is much more driven. She tends to be stoic and quiet at times while bubbly and energetic at others.
Sunshine… 8 yr old daughter, 3rd grade…a most affectionate child with the gift of gab. Late reader partly due to slight dyslexia but primarily becauseone hasto stop talking in order to read. She loves to read now, particularly out loud to us, but she’s still saying 'I don’t like to read' as though the realization hasn’t clicked yet. Sunshine has a melancholy personality and gets her feelings hurt easily, and yetis also a sunny, bouncy, happy little girl.
