We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an event to help bridge the gap between responsible local Worcestershire educational suppliers and schools.

Following on from the continued success of seminars and courses hosted by Coomber, we have listened to the many requests to provide a series of open days to enable teachers, bursars and heads to call in at times that suit you to meet and learn from authorised and passionate local suppliers.

We have pooled our resources to offer you best value and free advice to ensure that our local schools can obtain the services they need at an excellent value and from suppliers they can trust. We are here to support you so please call in and ask how we can help you.

  • Do you know what services are on your door step?
  • Do you know who to ask for advice on wide range of topics?
  • Would you like access to national learning concepts and a share in a wealth of experience?
  • Would you like to get free local advice and recommendations from your colleagues?
  • Would your school benefit from free audits and assessments of any of your services such as audio in your hall to your IT infrastructure and printing and photocopying, or just some practical help with handwriting?

We have evaluated and pulled together a list of reputable Worcestershire suppliers all willing to assist the local schools improve the teaching standards and improve the efficiency and value of you current resources, and the good news is there are plenty of free advice and services that you can call on.

We have been working with credible partners such as Worcestershire Children’s' services, Governor services, LST, WASBM, NAHT, West Mercia Supplies and specialist education consultants to provide you with a unique opportunity to release the potential of your current resources.

If you can’t join us at this event please let us know what theme or topics you would like us to cover in future monthly open daysso that we can arrange to have the experts there to help.In addition to educational suppliers we have access to the local MP's, council, banks, accountants, insurance, solicitors, HR, and SEN resource providers.

About the presenters

Brett Laniosh is passionate about creativity in the classroom and how ICT can be used to promote learning. He has worked in schools since 1980 and is an ICT Mark and Online Safety assessor. A former local authority advisor and a consultant with RM Learning, Brett now works as an independent school consultant for Catshill Learning Partnerships who have contracts with numerous West Midlands schools. His work has recently won endorsements from the West Midlands Crime Commissioner and three local members of parliament.

Cathy Parvinis a qualified Nurse and like a lot of parents had never heard of Dyspraxia until her own daughter was diagnosed with the condition.She set up a support group and worked as a voluntary local co-ordinator for the Dyspraxia Foundation whilst struggling to get the best care for her own child.From 2010 until 2012 she undertook the role of "Education Officer - West Midlands" for the Dyspraxia Foundation.Cathy has delivered over 250 training sessions and workshops in a wide variety of settings including schools, colleges and universities.Cathy is an Approved Trainer for the Dyspraxia Foundation in the UK.

11.30amKeeping pupils, staff and parents safe online

Brett Laniosh has been delivering e-safety messages in schools for five years. He presents some key messages on ways in which schools can promote online safety to a range of audiences including staff, parents and of course pupils.

12.00Creativity in the Classroom and throwing fish.

Brett show how schools can use online tools to promote creativity and celebrate children’s work online. Year one web designers anyone? He also gives a sneak preview on a fantastic new resource to inspire teachers that is completely free.

12.30pmCoomber Factory Tour

Introductory tour of modern manufacturing process, we will show the process of how the oldest and newest products are made her in Worcester, this tour is also available free to any local school group.

2.00pmThe Business in Education network

The business in education network brings together schools and businesses for the benefit of both. For schools the ability to find great services and suppliers is a real bonus. This presentation will show how schools can make use of this free service.

2.30pmIntroduction of courses by Cathy Parvin, Dyspraxia Education

Teaching staff are increasingly aware of the prevalence of Dyspraxia but often feel unsure of the identification of and the best practice when supporting individuals with the condition.

Dyspraxia Education's workshops are designed to help with these issues.

We can come to you and offer professional training using the latest techniques to identify and help with the best strategies and management of the condition. Practical and informed help lead to the best outcomes for both the child and the education professional.

3.00pmMorrells Handwriting

Will be Demonstrating 2 new Dyspraxia and Dyslexia friendly workbooks to help teachers successfully teach handwriting. Using a NEW ‘Bounce Technique’, the resources offer an active approach to handwriting intervention and cover the essential key stages of the writing process from letter formation to cursive writing.

This session is aimed at informing you who your local suppliers are and offering you our services above and beyond sales, How to get the most out of your investments, how to engage with your suppliers to ensure you get what you need.

4.30pmPre-Writing Motor Skills & Jimbo-Fun

Understanding the Child with Dyspraxia

Lack of certain basic motor skills will impact on a child's ability to write. Come along to this introduction session to learn more and see the new motor skills programme "Jimbo-Fun" which is specifically designed to target these areas.
