TERMS OF REFERENCE, COMPOSITION AND MEMBERSHIP

ACADEMIC BOARD TERMS OF REFERENCE

The Academic Board is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for:

·  general issues relating to research, scholarship, teaching and courses, subject to the requirements of validating and accrediting bodies;

·  criteria for the admission of students;

·  policies and procedures on examinations;

·  the appointment and removal of external and internal examiners; (authority delegated to University Teaching, Learning and Quality Committee on 11 December 2013, minute 13/01/11 refers);

·  the content of the curriculum;

·  academic standards and the validation and review of courses;

·  procedures for the award of qualifications and honorary academic titles;

·  procedures for expulsion of students for academic reasons.

Additionally, the Academic Board is responsible for giving advice to the Vice-Chancellor and the Board of Governors on:

·  the development of the academic activities of the institution;

·  the resources needed to support those activities;

·  any other matter referred to it by the Governors or the Vice-Chancellor.
