Summary of Main Conditions of Service for Support Staff

This summary of terms and conditions of service for support staff is applicable to staff working within the following campuses: Halbeath, Rosyth, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline, Leven, and any of our education centres within the Scottish Prison Service locations.

Hours: The full-time hours of work for support staff are 36 hours per week to be worked within the

currentCollege framework below:

Monday , Wednesday, Friday8.00 am - 6.00 pm

Tuesday and Thursday8.00 am - 9.00 pm

Staff may be required to work 2 evenings per week as part of the normal working week. You may be required to work on a Saturday as part of the normal working week.

Salary Payment: You will be paid in arrears, on a monthly cycle on the 15th of each month or the

nearest working day.

Annual leave:The full-time annual leave entitlement is 37 days, rising to 42 days after 5 years service.

Superannuation: The Government has introduced Auto Enrolment (AE) legislation to encourage people of the UK who are not saving enough for their retirement to do so. You will therefore be automatically enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) administered by Fife Council. Auto enrolment rules slightly differ from the current LGPS, however Fife Council must comply with these rules. Please note if you are an existing member of Fife College staff, auto enrolment legislation does not apply at present.

The Local Government Pension Scheme is a final salary pension scheme.The employee’s

contribution rate is determined according to the employee’s full time equivalent pensionable pay

and the contribution rate is applied in tiers ranging from 5.5% to 12%.

Probationary Period:Employment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary

period which falls outwith the organisation’s Disciplinary Procedure. This period may be extended in

appropriate circumstances, at the discretion of management, toa maximum of 9 months in duration.

This post will not be subject to a probationary period where an internal candidate has been employed

with the College for 1 year or more.

Sick Leave: An occupational sick pay scheme is in operation, the duration and amount of benefit

is dependant on length of service. The scheme complements statutory sick pay provisions.

Disclosure of Criminal Records:The successful applicant will be subject to either a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Records or a check via the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme with Disclosure Scotland.

Other Matters: Other terms and conditions of service are in accordance with the agreements made by the College Joint Negotiating Committee for Support Staff and adopted by the Board.

Continuous Professional Development - It is a requirement that all staff retain a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) log. The up keep of the CPD log will follow the procedures set out by Staff Development through the SDCR process.
