Temporary Swim Teacher/Lifeguard/Gym Instructor Position

Stewarts Sports & Leisure Centre requires a par-time Teacher/Lifeguard/Gym Instructor to work in our centre in Palmerstown, Dublin 20. Stewarts Sports Centre comprises of a gym, fitness studio, swimming pool and cafe. Stewarts Sports Centre is a unique leisure facility that services both the residential and day attending service users of Stewarts Care as well as the wider public.
JOB DESCRIPTION
TEACHER/LIFEGUARD/GYM INSTRUCTOR
- Teachers in the Sports Centre are required to have a qualification to teach swimming/lifeguard or gym instruction/fitness class instruction.
- Aqua aerobics certification or other specialized swim teaching qualifications would be a distinct advantage.
- Pool lifeguardingand pool supervision.
- Receptionist duties and answering the telephone as required.
- Work with service users to promote person centeredness health and wellbeing.
- Carry out cash and electronic transfer payments.
- Complete cash sheet and complete X and Z Reads, putting money in safe.
- General cleaning duties throughout the Sport's Centre i.e. using steam cleaner, Scrubbing machine, suction machine and power hoses.
- Clean and maintain gym and swimming equipment as required and signing cleaning and maintenance schedules.
- Sweep/hoover and mop floor during shift.
- Assist management in design and implementation of new programs for both service users and public members.
- Work closely with colleagues to reach business performance goals in line with the long term business plan.
- Work and service customers in Café/Jumping Bean Nutrient Cafe, including till operation, stock taking, filling vending machines and display fridges, wiping down tables, counter tops, windows, window ledges and coffee machine.
- Notify supervisor if any stock (cleaning materials and food) is required.
- Answer any queries by members of public on Stewarts Sports Centre and services it provides.
- Notify supervisor of any damaged or broken equipment.
- Help out at any function or competition if required.
- Wear uniform as provided.
- Help any customers or public exit the Sport's Centre during a fire drill or accident situation.
- Take part in training and development courses and workshops when required.
- Practice good standards of hygiene at all times.
- Following all policies and procedures set out by the organisation and its management.
- Any other duty as required by Supervisor.

The following are the essential skills and qualifications necessary for the position:
- Previous experience working in a gym &/or leisure centre.
- Previous experience teaching fitness classes and/or swim teaching classes.
- Hold a recognised swim teaching qualification (IWSA, Swim Ireland).
- Ability to teach a wide range of swimming classes.
- Current first aid/AED qualification.
- Must have Garda vetting carried out if successful with application.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
It would be preferable that applicants could also possess:
- Current pool lifeguard certificate.
- Current swim/aqua aerobic teacher qualification.
The position will require you work weekends, early mornings or evening shifts. The position will also require you to work with people of all ages and abilities including those with special considerations and disabilities.
