1. INTRODUCTION

All authors are required to submit a full manuscript following the instructions detailed in this template file. The manuscript will be peer-reviewed by the symposium committees. The acceptance by the committees is necessary for the publication in the proceedings and for oral / poster presentation at the symposium. If the revision is required after the peer-review, the final manuscript must be submitted. The proceedings will be published on a CD-ROM and distributed to the participants. If the full manuscript is not submitted, your abstract would be withdrawn from the symposium. You are also required to attend the symposium to present your paper.

1. Full manuscript must be 2 to 8 pages for general speakers, 6 to 8 pages for invited speakers, including figures and tables in A4 size.

2. Full manuscript must be submitted only by e-mail to "".

3. Both of the Microsoft Word and PDF files must be submitted.

4. The size of each file is limited to less than 4 MB.

5. The file names should consist of your abstract number and your last name. If your abstract number is "1110" and your last name is "Kimura", the file names are "1110Kimura.doc" and "1110Kimura.pdf".

6. The subject of the e-mail to submit the manuscript should consist of your abstract number and organized session number following "ISETS07-". If your abstract number is "1110" and the OS number is 2, the subject of the submission e-mail is "ISETS07-1110-session02".

7. The deadline of full manuscript submission is July 31, 2007.

3. PAGE LAYOUT

3.1. Overview of page layout

The full manuscript must be produced clearly on plain white A4-sized sheets, 210 by 297 mm, accurately within the dimensions designated in this instruction. The margins are summarized in Table 1. A new chapter of a section should not begin at the bottom of the page.

3.2. Title of manuscript

The title of manuscript, author(s), affiliation(s), abstract and keywords must be printed in one column as shown on the top of this page. The title is the same as that of the abstract already submitted. It is centered in the column and written in 14 point bold Roman with 16 point line space. The first letter of each word is capitalized except prepositions and articles. Leave one blank line after the title. The margins of the title are 30 mm on the both sides.

3.3. Authors

The names of authors are placed in the center in 12 point Roman with 14 point line space. Each name should be numbered with the superscript on its upper right to show the affiliation as shown above. One blank line is placed after the last author's name. The margins of the authors' names are the same as in the title.

The corresponding author's name and e-mail address should be specified at the bottom of the first page after "Corresponding author: ". In this template file, they are typed in the footer area. The corresponding author's first and middle names should be written in initials.

3.4. Affiliation

The authors' affiliations begin with the superscript numbers placed on the authors' names. They should be in 10 point Italic Roman with 11 point line space. The names of Department/Section, University/Company, city and country should be specified. Allow one blank line between the affiliation and abstract. The margins of the affiliations are the same as in the title.

3.5. Abstract and keywords

The abstract should be written in less than 500 words within the margin of 30 mm at the both sides. It is written in 10 point Roman with 11 point line space followed by the keywords. Three to five keywords should be typed after "Keywords: ". Hyphens should be used to divide the words at the end of the lines to reduce the spaces between the words.

3.6. Chapters and sections

A title of a chapter is typed in all capital letters in 10 point Bold Roman with 11 point line space after the number as "1." or "2.". One blank line is required above the title of each chapter unless a blank line is placed at the top of the columns.

Titles of a section and subsection are typed in 10 point Bold Roman with 11 point line space. Only the first letter of the first word is capitalized. The titles must be accompanied by the numbering with the section number as "1.1." or "2.3.". For subsections, place the subsection number as "1.1.2." or "2.4.1.". Leave a blank line above the titles of a section unless a blank line is placed at the top of the columns. A blank line should not be placed above a subsection.

3.7. Body text

The body text is printed in double columns with the middle margin of 6 mm. All the text, figures, tables and captions must be placed within the body text area. The body text is typed in 10 point Roman with 11 point line space.

Hyphens should be used to divide the words at the end of the lines to reduce the spaces between the words. The line spacing should be retained constant even in the lines with symbols, superscripts, subscripts and equations etc. If larger line space is required for an equation, several lines with constant line spacing should be placed to accommodate the equation. It is preferable to level the last lines of the both columns on the last page. The summary of the manuscript format is presented in Table 2.

4. OTHER INSTRUCTIONS

4.1. Units and abbreviations

SI unit systems are employed in all texts, figures and tables. However, the following units are allowed :

1. "min" and "h" instead of "s"

2. "deg" or "°" instead of "rad"

3. "°C" instead of "K"

Units must not be mixed, i.e., "deg" and "°C" are not allowed to be used in the same manuscript.

All abbreviations must be spelled out when they first appear in the abstract and body text as "atomic force microscopy (AFM)" or "Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)".

4.2. Figures and tables

All figures, line drawing and photographs must be reduced to the appropriate size to be positioned within the body text area. Only the figures with sufficient resolution and clear image are acceptable. Figures should be centered above the captions. All of the figures must be numbered in a sequential order with Arabic numbers as Fig. 1 or Fig. 2. Place figures close to the reference in the body text, preferably on the page where they are first cited. Leave space worth a 11-point line spacing between the body text and the figure. The caption should be located in the center of each column. Tables should be placed below the caption, which is centered in each column.

4.3. Equations

Variables in symbols and formulae must be italicized. The equation numbers should be placed in parentheses. The font size of equations is the same as that of body text, i.e. 10 point with 11 point line spacing.

4.4. References

References must be numbered in the order of their appearance in the body text. The sequential numbers should be placed in brackets as [1], [3,4] or [5-8]. Superscripts should not be used for the reference numbers. The list of the references must be presented at the end of the manuscript in the chapter "REFERENCES". The examples of the references are shown as follows: [1,2] for books, [3,4] for journals and [6] for conference proceedings. Titles of journals or proceedings should be abbreviated in the standard style. For journals published not in English, the language must be specified as "(in Japanese)".

5. FINAL MANUSCRIPT

If the revision is required after the peer-review of the full manuscript, the final manuscript must be submitted by September 30, 2007.
