Telford and Wrekin Services

Telford and Wrekin Services (TWS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of FCC Environment.

TWS was established in 2001 to provide Environmental Maintenance service to the Borough of Telford and Wrekin Council. These services include Refuse and Green Waste Collection, CRC site Operation, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Highway Maintenance and Transport Workshops.

TWS employs around 280 staff, together with over 50 ‘O’ Licence vehicles plus 75 light goods vehicles and approximately 300 items of plant.

Role Purpose

To ensure that the Company collects waste in accordance with current legislation and company requirements by loading materials into the vehicle and unloading at the waste disposal point as directed by management of the Company.

Key Responsibilities

·  Work as a member of a crew

·  Observe current legislation and Company safety policies

·  Wear and care for any PPE that is issued

·  Operate any equipment as per instruction and training

·  Load waste/resources into the vehicle as per instruction and training

·  Report any non-conforming wastes on the route

·  Interact with customers/residents in a polite and courteous manner

·  Report any near misses, incidents and accidents to management

·  Undertake any training required for the role

·  Any other reasonable tasks as directed by management

Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

·  Clean UK driving licence

·  Manual handling or any waste industry training would be an advantage

Personal Qualities

·  Must have the ability to push heavy wheeled bin and lift container/bulky items of household waste

·  Ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a team

·  Good communication skills with customers/residents and colleagues

·  The ability to follow pre-planned routes and read maps

·  Flexible attitude towards working additional hours as and when required

·  Must be prepared to wear PPE uniform that will be provided

·  Must be willing to undergo additional training

·  Knowledge of the district would be a distinct advantage

·  An understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace

·  Sufficiently resilient and robust to effectively deal with aggressive/irate customers/residents
