100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. Announce New Chairman and President, Milton H. Jones, Jr.

November 20, 2008 Atlanta, GA–100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Milton H. Jones, Jr. as Chairman of the organization’s Board of Directors. A 31-plus year veteran with Bank of America, Jones serves as the bank’s Georgia President as well as Finance Services Executive for the Chief Financial Officer Group. He brings his considerable leadership experience and business acumen to the top volunteer position of 100 Black Men of Atlanta. In this role Jones will lead the Board’s efforts in establishing policy, governance and developing the strategic direction of the organization.

In accordance with the established 100 Black Men of Atlanta succession plan, Jones takes the helm after serving as Chairman Elect and President Elect under Terrell Slayton, who recently passed away. “I’m honored to become Chairman and President, and at the same time, deeply saddened at the untimely loss of Terrell Slayton,” stated Jones. “I look forward to carrying out the work he started and to many more great accomplishments in the coming years.”

A graduate of The University of Notre Dame, Jones has held numerous senior executive roles in banking, financial planning and asset liability information and analysis. In 1997, he received the National Association of Black Accountants Career Achievement Award. He was previously named as a Black Alumni Exemplar for the University of Notre Dame and received the prestigious Frazier T. Thompson Career Achievement Award.

Since 1997, Jones has been a member of 100 Black Men of Atlanta. He also is the chairman for the Board of Trustees of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., Audit Committee Chair and Board Member of the United Negro College Fund, serves on the Executive Committees of the Metro Atlanta YMCA, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Council on Economic Education. Jones is a former chair of the Bank of America Global Diversity and Inclusion Council, Techwood Park, Inc., Metro Atlanta YMCA and Research Atlanta. He is an Alumnus of the Leadership Atlanta (1990) and Leadership Georgia (1992).

About Project Success

Project Success, created by the 100 Black Men of Atlanta in 1987, helps to prepare Atlanta Public Schools’ students to successfully graduate from high school and helps to prepare them for post-secondary education. The mentoring program encourages urban youth to be self-motivated and confident while emphasizing the importance of a strong work ethic. Its long-term goal is to create an educated workforce of well-rounded individuals who understand the importance of giving back to the community. With this successful program as the cornerstone of 100 Black Men of Atlanta’s activities, the organization continues to build its portfolio of services to improve the lives of young African Americans.
