RE:2016 ENF Scholarship Information

The Most Valuable Student and Legacy Awards

Dear High School Senior Counselor,

This is the fourthyearthat my husband, Jesus Martinez, and I are given the opportunity to be the El Paso Elks Lodge #187 scholarship co-chairs. We both are retired educators and together we have seventy plus years experience with the public schools in different capacities. It gives us great pleasure to be involved with the Elks Organization and especially to have the privilege to be involved in recruiting El Paso Scholars to apply for the Elks National Foundation Scholarships.

In 2012 for the very first time a student enrolled in one of the El Paso ISD schools was awarded the ELKS National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Two years ago, 2013, we had two winners representing the El Paso Area Schools. Each senior was awarded $4,000.00 or $1,000.00 a year to a college of their choice.

This year, once again,we are requesting your assistance in getting the scholarship information out to our El Paso area scholars. We know that we have many talented and dedicated students who can greatly benefit from one of these scholarships.

The two scholarships:

  • The Most Valuable Student Scholarship
  • Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen can apply for the Most Valuable Student Scholarship/Applications available online only/Application deadline is December 4, 2015
  • The Legacy Awards
  • Only for high school seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks are welcome to apply who demonstrate financial need/Applications available online. Applications must be submitted online on or before January 29,2016, at 11:59 a.m.

Please see attached page for application process. The El Paso Lodge #187 is located at 2278 Trawood, Ste. C/D,El Paso, Texas 79935. This is where the students will need to submit their applications before December 4, 2015. If you need more information or you have a question/s, please contact Gloria Garcia, the lodge secretary.
