Attendance: Approximately 90 people from the WV GIS Community attended the GIS coordination meeting. See the attendee list below.

WV GIS Program Overview: Craig Neidig, WV GIS Coordinator, presented an overview of the State’s GIS program. His presentation was entitled, “The West Virginia GIS Program: A Decade of Progress, A Future of Promise.” Executive Order 4-93, which initiated the state GIS program, was distributed to participants to review and recommend revisions for a revised executive order.

Base Layer Development: Kurt Donaldson provided a brief presentation and notes of the best available framework base layers that are currently available or in development for future release.

Proposed GIS Coordination Council: Participants provide feedback about a newly-structured Coordination Council which includes advisory and work groups. A committee was identified to further explore implementing a new GIS organizational structure and strategic plan for the State.

Next Meeting: The next council meeting is scheduled for February.
